How do I reconnect with the life he wants me to live?

Not dwell on the darkness that insists it will overtake
Not give into negative feelings or be defined by each mistake

As I go through the motions of an ordinary day
I can pray and ponder the goodness that God has steered my way

He woke me up and gave me breath and another day of life
This fact alone helps to dispel a lot of internal strife

Those helpless, hopeless, feelings that my life is fading fast
Will diminish, eventually fade, by no means will they last

Gratitude is big. It helps you appreciate,
That God is good all the time, and never is he late

He’ll cut through the darkness, make an entrance for the light
He has the power to lift depression, the power to make you see things

Sometimes we think that our plans must lead down a better road, or that God must not love us enough to protect us from this pain we feel, but God actually uses the painful experiences to further develop our character. Vivian Thomas could have given up when it became too discouraging, but instead he persevered and became an inspiration to many people. But God’s grace is sufficient for today’s burdens. If I allow my mind to wander to the future, I will miss God’s plan for me right now, today; I will miss the opportunity to let my light shine for Him even through my pain. I have been through many ups and downs in my life. After a traumatic experience a few years ago, I’ve felt very trapped in my troughs with the scarce, brief relief of peaks.…

The works we studied within Creative Writing were all helpful in creating my own works to submit to the class. Throughout all of the reading, many of the works inspired me in different ways, whether it was short story plot ideas or word usage in the poems. While crafting my work for the final portfolio, I reviewed many of the poems from our poetry packet in an effort to find inspiration and to create new interesting images. I took the most inspiration for my formal poem, which I found most difficult to write. One of the poems that was most useful to me was Jilly Dybka’s “Memphis, 1976.” Dybka’s poem follows the sestina form; I also wrote my last poem in this form, so it helped to follow the form by looking at her poem as an example. Dybka’s…

The text that I will be analyzing is a poem by Lorna Crozier called The Child Who Walks Backwards. Throughout my analysis I will look into parental abuse, underlying meanings in the lines in the poetry, as well as connections I can make personally to the book. I think it is also important that I bring forth essential messages in the words and statements of the poem. The main theme I will choose to focus on is that abuse does not only happen at school or back alleys, but that it happens in homes as well.…

In the poem “To This Day” by Shane Koyczan he shows that people that get bullied constantly aren’t able to blow stuff off as easy as others. In the poem he shows that some people need motivation and help. He shows this by stating in the poem,”We are not abandoned cars stalled out… and if in some way we are don’t worry we only got out to walk and get gas”. Gas could symbolize getting help from someone they know and trust, or could be trying to get help with therapy or things of that nature. Another meaning could be that they need to get motivation to keep going from something. The dark background colors could mean that they need better things to happen to get motivation from.…
