It is easier to provide the best medical care, when one takes the time to get to know their patients. When patients are overlooked, it can be easier to cause harm. Simple thing like learning the patients name will help a treat a patient like a human versus a product. When a child comes in the emergency room with bruises and handprints all over their body, it is the medical personnel responsibility to report the abuse. Protecting that child becomes priority, speaking up and out for them when they cannot. Being the voice for the voiceless also protect unresponsive patients. Checking and refusing the services of others, when they could harm the patients. The example used was a doctor called for a certain dosage of medication for the patient, to advocate means making sure that dosage is correct and challenging it, when it is not. Without patient advocacy the abuse would continue for the child, and the wrong dosage of medication for the patient could have caused a deadly
