When asked to define commitment, Matthew states it is to prioritise the other party, while Alicia defined it as staying loyal and faithful with no slightest feeling for anyone else. When asked to define passion, Matthew says that it is to sacrifice for the other party while Alicia state that it is to keep the relationship going. Based on research by Robert Sternberg, commitment is the decision to devote oneself to a relationship, and to work to maintain it.

When asked to rank passion, commitment and intimacy, from most important to least. Matthew ranked them as passion, commitment and then intimacy, while Alicia ranked them as commitment, passion and intimacy. When asked why they, Matthew stated that it is to sacrifice and commit ourselves to our partner. Whereas, Alicia said that there should be loyalty and faithfulness in a relationship. When asked how they would work things out if the ranking is different, Matthew said he would explain how he feels regarding this topic and hope Alicia understands, and Alicia agreed with Matthew.

Thankfully Christ became the wedge remover (ibid, 17) providing the pattern for the dynamics of biblical commitment through the power of the Holy Spirit. This was the key to intimacy and the ultimate goal for a marriage. Almost as a side note Hawkins explains that intimacy is not sex and sex is not intimacy (Ibid, 24) and that a real foundation for true Godly intimacy is a foundation of commitment (ibid , 28). Not just any kind of commitment but a godly commitment (ibid, 35), even in the face of the individual selfishness, a couple that seek forgiveness and grace committed to meeting each other’s need can fulfill the plans of God if they stay the course with God.…

I am predicting that Katie will end up falling in love with Alex. Even though she is scared, she will learn to see that not all guys are abusers and cruel like her past husband. Where I left off in my novel, Katie just went to the beach with Alex and his two kids. She tells her friend Jo, “Weren’t you listening? He was bringing his kids to the beach and he invited me along. It wasn’t a date (Sparks 97).” Jo then argues with her that she knows she wanted it to be a date. I also predict they will go on more dates that lead to their falling in love. Jo says, “And, of course, you had a great weekend.” Katie paused. “Yeah,” she said. “I did (Sparks 99).” These all add evidence that Katie will spend more time and all in love with…

There is a certain pain that is felt whenever a loved one passes. Beyond sadness, it is hurt, it is anger, it is confusion, and an almost unidentifiable emptiness where the lungs should be. People who have not experienced such loss have a happy, if hazy, view of the world. Then, there are those who lose someone… a major someone... so very special. They do eventually move on, but the pain alters them forever. Ed Sheeran, in the song “Afire Love,” illustrates how the loss of an individual can impact everyone around them, young and old.…

Another climax begins at the end of chapter 21 with a phone call between Jed and Joe “I’m putting her on, OK? Are you there? Joe? Are you there?” Here McEwan uses juxtaposition of beginning an event within the formal closure of a chapter. The effect of this adds suspense to the novel as a whole as it wills the reader to follow the chain of events. Also, the panicked dialogue of “Are you there? Joe? Are you there?” heightens the climax by leaving it unresolved.…
