Larkin’s use of alliteration when unfolding the content, that of Bleaney’s room, ‘flowered curtains, thin and frayed, Fall to within five inches of the sill’(l.3-4) creates an ironic bleak description of the things which presumably once surrounded Mr Bleaney; this contrasts the function of alliteration as its usually used in a playful manner. Using such a feature allows some light-heart, creating a rhythmic flow to the poem, despite the dismal atmosphere being presented. Larkin uses alliteration quite a few times in Mr. Bleaney, ‘Behind the door, no room for books or bags’ (l.9) signifying that the room in which he resided in was so box size that there was no space for leisure or anything exciting, not even behind the door where it may not…

There are many different ways to classify a person, some good and some bad. In Rosiland Wiseman’s essay “The Queen Bee and Her Court” she says, “We need to give girls credit for the sophistication of their social structures”. She’s right, the way girls separate each other into different cliques is very complex and multilayered, but sometimes it can be very harmful to some of the girls. If you classify someone has a “Queen Bee”, or “The IT girl”, they are going to feel empowered and special. But what about the girls you call “Losers”, or “Wannabe’s”. They are going to feel depressed, like they don’t fit in, or that they’re weird or not as good as those other girls.…

In my opinion, the killer bee was created by scientists in brazil to help decrease the population of humans. From the moment they were created, killer bees induced around one thousand deaths every year..After escaping the lab the killer bee began taking over mexican and american honey bee hives. Our descendants of southern african bees brought to america by brazilian scientist trying to breed a regular honey bee to an african bee and created the one and only Killer Bee. Killer bees have been in the unites states for over seventeen centuries, so people had a long time to get used to them. Killer bees are not very big organism, they are a little bit over half an inch long. Just like other bees. They are brown with a fuzzy body. Killer bees have four pairs of wings, but they do not fly very well. They are able to chase their target…

There are two examples that I will use from the Cock-crow episode to illustrate this, the first example is when Monkey sees the Crown Prince for the very first time. “Don’t tell me! Said the Monkey in the air, “that is the Prince” I will play a trick on him” (page 48) at first; you may think that Monkey is up to no good and just out to fulfill his own desire for adventure and excitement. In reality, he is attempting to get the Crown Prince in front of Tripitaka so that they can carefully get his attention and get him away from his guards and begin the process of discerning the truth about what the dead king was claiming.…

Most people are familiar with Rudyard Kipling's “The Jungle Book” to some degree. There are those who have read the full text, those who have read excerpts, and those who have seen one of the various screen adaptations based on the work. At the very least people are familiar with the story of Mowgli, which is by far the most popular; it is also one that most people can recite with little to no thought: boy is found by wolves, boy is raised by wolves while hanging out with a panther and a bear, evil tiger tries to kill boy, boy goes to live in the village of men – simple, straightforward, it really is a story we've heard in many incarnations. Unfortunately, most people’s interpretation of the story is so influenced by the Disney treatment that the most popular adaptation gave it, that our understanding of the story is tainted.…

One day long ago, some sailors set out to sea in their sailing ship. One of them brought his pet monkey along for the long journey. When they were far out at sea, a terrible storm overturned their ship. Everyone fell into the sea, and the monkey was sure that he would drown. Suddenly a dolphin appeared and picked him up.They soon reached the island and the monkey came down from the dolphin’s back. The dolphin asked the monkey, “Do you know this place?”The monkey replied, “Yes, I do. In fact, the king of the island is my best friend. Do you know that I am actually a prince?”Knowing that no one lived on the island, the dolphin said, “Well, well, so you are a prince! Now you can be a king!” The monkey asked, “How can I be a king?”As the dolphin started swimming away, he answered, “That is easy. As you are the only creature on this island, you will naturally be the king!”…

In this essay, "The Life and Death of Cholmondeley" Gerald M. Durrel effectively illustrates that the needs of Chumley, the intelligent ape are better met by him rather then the authorities of the London Zoo. Firstly, Chumley shows many qualities of a curios infant, he demonstrates a considerable potential to learn and analyze simple skills ideas and situations. Like a small child, it is evident that Chumley needs certain intimate attention not properly provided by the zoo. When Durrel limits the amount of attention given to Chumley, the ape becomes "a little jealous of [the new monkey] Sue- but he was too much of a gentle man to show it." (Pg. 25)…
