The alchemy is an ancient practice that transform lead into gold (Radford, 2016). In the other word, it is a practice to turn ordinary or insignificant thing into precious or valuable thing. In the beginning of the story, Santiago was a shepherd who does not have any goal or personal legend to achieve. However, at the end of the story, Santiago achieved his personal legend which is to find a treasure. Throughout the story, Santiago has been changed from nobody to valuable person. Even though the story is not about the Alchemist, the title of the book, “The Alchemist”, is a great title. The change of Santiago’s ordinary life to precious life is like a change of lead into gold, and both ways to accomplish a personal legend and to become an alchemist require a courage and should act out instead of hesitating. Also, this book, “The Alchemist”, changes many people’s life. If one has not read a novel “The Alchemist” before, one should read it so that one can change his or her
