According to Gillen (2014), writers do not have to agree with data, and that these data could be either right or wrong.
Gillen suggested that writers should either agree with the data but with difference, or disagree with it and explain why. Gillen (2014) explained, “Concur with finding and then propose a mechanism that explains it” (p.213). He explained how a writer could agree with the data but at the same time jump into the conversation so he could put an opinion on it. When disagreeing with the data, Gillen (2014) suggested that a writer should explain why they disagree with it, and avoid getting to the conclusion with this
disagreement. Gillen’s suggestion were very helpful, and it helps with writing a stronger argument. His templates and formats are very helpful to make the writing organized and proper. They defiantly assist students when organizing an essay, because these templates format fits well with any argument and it helps the reader to understand the argument more. Gillen’s suggestions, templates, and formats helps reader involving into conversation and makes them think weather the data included sounds right or wrong. Gillen explained how a writer should either agree with data but with a difference, or disagree with it and explains why, which helps the reader to understand why the writer agrees or disagrees with it. Gillen explained that a writer should state they opinion in the argument especially with the data in it in order to be stronger.
