Reliable, because the assessor can readily observe that the candidate is working independently (or working with others, as appropriate)…
The Vark Questionnaire was used to evaluate an individual’s learning style which produced the following results: Visual (7), Aural (5), Read/Write (6), and Kinesthetic (9). The individual scored highest in Kinesthetic, but the final preference would be what is known as multimodal because the scores are very similar. A multimodal individual or Vark Type One can adapt to any situation and will prefer to shift modes based upon the situation at hand. This individual can be described as well-rounded, keeping an open mind to complete tasks with which…
This part is going to discuss this writer’s preferred learning style and the way it affects the learning process. After taking the questionnaire, the VARK showed a learning style of multimodal. Multimodal consist of several modes of learning which help you adapt to the learning styles that is required. Multimodal consists of two or more of the following learning techniques: Visual, aural, kinesthetic, and read/write. Multiple preference involves more use of…
Learning style is a way of learning that helps an individual learn best by a given modality (Cherry, 2014). Individuals typically display diverse modes of learning with multiple and varied talents with differing modalities of learning (Kumar, Smriti, Pratap, & Krishnee, 2012). The VAK instrument was expanded by Fleming and Mills in 1992 into the VARK. The original VAK founded in 1970 was original Visual, Aural, and Kinesthetic learning (Bernardes & Hannah, 2009, p. 1-12). The Read-Write method was added to comprise of the VARK and the questionnaire was created with 16 multiple choice questions with four items each corresponding to the four sensory modalities V for visual, A for aural, R for read-write,…
According to my VARK score I’m a multimodal learner. A multimodal learner falls in the…
There are several styles of learning that are used by individuals. VARK is an acronym that stand for visual, aural, read/write, and kinesthetic that is used for measuring an individuals style of learning. These different learning styles will be discussed as well as ways to improve study habits to best fit this authors learning style.…
The VARK analysis questionnaire is a fairly accurate method for evaluating a learner’s preferred learning style. The strategies outlined in the specific styles – aural, read/write, visual, kinesthetic- are accurate and can serve the teacher well when developing an education plan for a patient.…
A person can use the learning strategies to learn the new material and to teach effectively to others. Based on the VARK questionnaire, a person would first determine his or her learning style. Then a learning plan would be developed to learn the material based on specific learning style. Awareness of learning style, preferences, and strategies helps people learn easily in their own style. Consequently, people who struggled previously without knowing their learning style would succeed in their life (Montgomery and Groat,…
VARK is a questionnaire and an acronym that stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write and Kinesthetic. The questionnaire provides users with the preferences of their learning styles. The knowledge of learning style preferences is beneficial to both students and educators in developing methods and modifying current methods to become successful learners and teachers.…
When preparing to learn new material it is important to set yourself up for the greatest chance of success of learning that new material or, if teaching it, by presenting it in such a way that it will be retained. The first step in the process, involves determining the characteristics of the learner (Edelman, 2014). This can be accomplished by simply having the student complete the VARK questionnaire. The VARK questionnaire has sixteen multiple choice questions in which four answers may be selected for each question. The results provide you with not a learning style but your preferences…
This paper will describe the meaning of the acronym VARK and the purpose of the VARK questionnaire. I will provide a summary of my personal learning style as outlined by the results of my VARK questionnaire and I will compare my learning strategies to the strategies that are identified by my preferred learning style. Additionally, I will discuss how the awareness of individual learning styles influence teaching and learning.…
According to the VARK questionnaire results, this student’s learning style corresponds with a Read/Write preference. Being familiar with own learning style will allow the student to better understand and process information. This individual integrates informations from written…
VAK stands for Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic learning styles. VAK helps to provide a simpler way to help someone to understand their own learning styles. Everyone has different ways that they like to learn in and how effective that learning style is for them. Some people may have a more than one type of learning style. For example, during a previous lesson we took a questionnaire independently to find out what was the best learning style was for us and my results showed that I am a visual learner and I believe this to be true as I like to look at examples and watch video clips to help me to complete a task however I believe that I am a kinaesthetic learner as well as I like to be hands on with certain tasks.…
I think I do better acting out how things work while I am studying or doing homework. The assessment did surprise me a little bit because I was not expecting to score high with visual, aural, and read/write. I’m also surprised that I scored Kinesthetic by a point above of visual, aural, and read/write. There are some points where I could have been a visual, aural, and read/write learner. I would like to use visual because at times when I use a graph to look at different percentages that are about many different things, it helps to look at what item is better by the percentage. Aural would help be by listening to what others say about a topic and how they feel about it. It gives me the idea on what others think and how I can follow the topic and not mess up and make a fool of myself. Read/write would help me by reading through directions and following them, or rewriting notes from a power point. I would say kinesthetic is my number one learning ability to have because of being hands-on materials and do actions while I am studying and doing…
Fleming developed an inventory designed to help students learn more about their individual learning preferences. Fleming’s VAK model identified three learning styles; Visual, Auditory and Kinaesthetic. According to this theory most people have a preferred learning style however some people may prefer to learn using a mixture of all three styles. As with the previous theories each style within the VAK model has individual characteristics based on their learning preferences. Visual learners learn best through seeing. They think in pictures and have intense mental images. They like to learn using maps, charts, pictures or videos. They tend to have visual skills in activities such as reading, writing, puzzle building, interpreting charts and graphs, and painting and have a good sense of direction. Auditory learners like to learn through listening. They tend to think in words rather than pictures and learn best through lectures, discussions, talking things through and hearing other people’s opinions. Auditory learners tend to have highly developed auditory skills and are generally good at speaking and presenting. They demonstrate these skills through speaking, listening, storytelling, explaining, understanding the syntax and meaning of words, remembering information and analysing language usage. Kinaesthetic learners learn best through moving, touching and doing. They find it hard to sit…
