Analysis Of The Wife's Story By Ursula Le Guin
Aunt’s Side of the Story Throughout the novel, “The Wife's Story”, written by Ursula Le Guin, every character witnessed the event in different ways. In this particular predicament, where a man is trapped in a world of wolves, there are several characters who experienced the man turning into something horrid, the creature, the kids, the mother and me, her sister. I don’t trust my sister’s husband, there is something odd about him, he just seems too good to be true, I feel like he is a snake in the grass. Maybe it is just jealousy or maybe it’s a hunch. I never found someone who is right for me, they were either too judgmental that I live in my parents house or just arrogant jerks. He is in our house, night and day, and I get more and more envious of her good fortune every day so for the sake of my sanity, I move out. I don’t even know why I don’t like him, he acts so innocent, if you see him playing with his children, you would know that there isn’t any bad in him, not one mean bone. Maybe my hunch is wrong. …show more content…

She keeps on telling me about how peculiar her husband has been acting. She said he came home late one night, exhausted and aggravated with an odd smell, even his own children did not recognize him, they were frightened. From all the way across the street, I could hear the child’s howl of fear. I keep a close eye on him, day by day he just keeps on acting more abnormal. I take up gardening to get my mind off of him, but I still spy on him every once in awhile, for my sister's sake. I read a book about psychology the other day, I wonder if her husband could be a psychopath or something, worried about my sister, I give her a

In both the excerpts from Karen van der Zee 's novel "A Secret Sorrow" and in Gail Godwin 's short story "A Sorrowful Woman," the plots center on ideas of marriage and family. Conversely, marriage and family are presented in very different lights in the two stories. Karen van der Zee presents marriage with children as perfect and completely fulfilling; it is what Faye, the protagonist of "A Secret Sorrow", wants and what is necessary to her happiness. For Godwin 's unnamed protagonist, marriage and family are almost the antithesis of happiness; her home life seems to suffocate hear and eventually leads her to death. "A Secret Sorrow" directly endorses and encourages marriage, whereas "A Sorrowful Woman" indirectly questions and discourages it.…

The novel “of mice and men” has some characters that are ignored and lonely. Sometimes they can even be taken advantage of. Also, they are looked at as weak. Some of the characters that fall in this category are Candy, Crooks, and Curley's wife. In the real world, many people are lonely, like, at school kids eat at lunch tables by themselves, maybe because they are not so popular or they might not fit in. These people are then made fun of, then that makes them want to hurt or even kill themselves. So from now on if you see someone sitting alone, go sit with them and start a conversation with them, so you make them feel like they are not alone. In the case of the book that really did not really happen with Candy, Crooks, and Curley's wife.…

When studying the Wife of Bath’s Prologue and Wife of Bath’s Tale, both coming from the Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, you see a common theme of feminism. Also, you get a good sense of the of the anti feminist cultural norms and ideas regarding women in the medieval era. Alisoun, The Wife of Bath, focuses most upon the common stereotypes of women. These stereotypes include the idea that women only marry into money in order to live a lavish lifestyle off of their husband’s income as well as the belief that women will never stop talking to their husbands. Stemming from this, the common belief among men was that if you were to get married, it would ruin your chances of success later in life. The Wife of Bath opposed all of these…

Mary Catherine Bateson’s story on “Composing a Life Story” allowed me to realize that due to experiences I have become a unique person. I am one person however I have many different versions of myself. I have to become a different version of myself for each environment that I enter into. Indeed it almost sounds like I have multiple personality however that is not the case. When I am at home I must be the loving, caring, nurturing women who cares for the household, her child, and all that is involved to make the home flourish. At work I must become the strong woman who does not allow people to judge me by the fact that I am a woman. I must compete with the men in my company to show that I can be just as successful as any man. Of course I must…
