Analysis Of Woodruff Park And Pinckneyville Park

Introduction:
Great public spaces refer to places where sociability, activities, and accessibility are held (What Makes a Successful Place, 2018). Great public spaces indicate that there are opportunities to build recreations along with family and friends, increase self confidence by engaging in conversations with others and participate in some sort of activities (What Makes a Successful Place, 2018). Two places, such as Woodruff Park, as well as Pinckneyville Park, are ideal for an observation project because both locations have similarities and differences that can be easily observed.
Overview of Data Collection:
The data is collected by answering the questions on the “What Makes a Successful Place?” sections which includes Access &Linkages,
Additionally, the areas on both parks feel safe and there is security presence because the manager gives information in where facilities are located. The differences between Woodruff Park and Pinckneyville are that Woodruff Park has transit stops to nearby destinations such as libraries, post offices as well as park entrances as opposed to Pinckneyville Park. Since Pinckneyville Park is located in the suburban area of Norcross, there are no public transits. In addition, people are walking, eating, relaxing and reading at Woodruff Park, but people are walking, playing soccer and baseball, eating, relaxing and reading at Pinckneyville Park. Woodruff Park is adjacent to buildings because occupants use this space for eating lunch, socializing and relaxing. However, Pinckneyville Park is surrounded by green trees. Generally, music is played in Woodruff Park especially on weekdays, but on the weekends it is very quiet. There is usually no music playing in Pinckneyville Park. Pinckneyville Park meets a rule of 10 because it shows that the park has plenty of activities outdoor and indoor. Woodruff Park does not meet a rule of 10 because the playground is very
Woodruff Park could hire staff to pick up the trash. The other recommendation at Woodruff Park is to have indoor activities such as aerobic workouts and a dance studio. On the other hand, the only recommendation that can be improved at Pinckneyville Park is to build more artwork and play music on weekdays and weekends. In conclusion, I had to tell the similarities and differences between Woodruff Park and Pinckneyville Park based on the data collection shown in the table.
