Analysis: The Red Violin
The Red Violin presents some interesting ideas about the qualities of an instrument. The varnish on the violin contains the blood of Bussotti’s wife, from just after she died. It seemed as if the wife lived on within the violin, implying that violins can have personality, which can be seen as true. Each violin has different tendencies, sound, different distances between notes, differing amounts of reverberation. This is what makes some violins sound so unique and what makes some valued so much more than others. In this vein, one parallel that I noticed while watching the film was that between the violin and the life of a human being. The violin was created around the same time, Bussotti’s wife gave birth, so she nearly gave birth to the violin.

To emphasise McQueen’s point about the racism, he used the idea of recurring motifs to further illustrate his point. The recurring motif of the violin symbolises Solomon’s passion and hobby, and of what he should be doing with his life. In the film, there is a mid-shot of posh men and women dancing to the music created by the violin that Solomon is playing, to symbolise the happiness and joy in the Northern state of America, where equality is present as blacks and whites lived in harmony and with equal opportunities. Retrospectively, in the past, the Northern parts of United States had a slave-free environment where all are treated equally during the 1840s. The pure talent that Solomon possess is regarded as being very fine, proved by the dialogue, “These two gentlemen were enquiring…

The first movement of the composition begins with a solo from only the strings family. A soft, consistent melody is played and the violin dominates the other instruments in this piece. The tone color at the beginning of this piece is relatively light which symbolizes the characteristics of a nuturing mother. As expected from a classical piece, the dynamics of the piece suddenly change, and there is a slight crescendo in the piece during the following measures of the composition. The tempo of the composition grows quicker in pace which portrays another chapter in the story, signalizng another movement of the piece. A violinist them performs a solo that plays alot that is also quick, yet play alot on the concept of pitch. It can be heard that the violin goes from very low ranges to fairly high range in pitch to emphasize the great amount of emotion in the piece.…

Music comes in many different forms and continues to grow as society expands. Over the years, music has become more simplistic in the main stream. Before understanding why artists create a certain type of music, or why they perform a certain type of music it all draws back to who they are as an individual or group. The Piano Guys is a group of ten people who have worked hard wanting to entertain people with their music abilities. The ten individuals make up a cello family containing one female and nine males. It all started in Southern Utah at a music store known as The Piano Guys. This phenomenal group uses vocals and instruments to make their classical pieces stand apart…

Second, “It was pitch dark. I could hear only the violin, and it was a s though Juliek’s soul were the bow. He was playing his life, the whole of his life ws gliding on the strings – his lost hopes, his charred past, his extinguished future. He played as he would never play again.” Imagery reveals that he was playing the best he could, his last act, final ending to his life and talent. Also imagery shows that Juliek is playing his soul as if his whole life depended on it, his soul and the violin synchronizing in tune.…

As social and political views changed throughout history, a revolution in the art world followed. Artists use their pieces to explain their point of view, this includes writers, painters, and especially musicians. The end of the French Revolution inspired hope and visions for the future, which musicians responded by entering the Romantic period. In order to compare musicians in the Romantic period and those in the modern era, we must look into the stylistic choices of individual composers.…

The broken violin symbolize that the last thing is beautiful in this camp. For example, Juliek played Beethoven before he died, “All I could hear was the violin, and it was as if Juliek's soul had become his bow.”(page 95) This shows that seeing people died front of his eyes, it’s was terrible, the violin is Juliek’s family in this long journey, in his last moment looking at devils and deaths, instead of play something sad, he decided to brought amazing sounds to this cemetery. In addition, his music calmed many Jews who passed away in their disappointment in God and sufferness, the silence of corpses was broken by a powerful sound of Juliek and his violin.…

Visiting the National Gallery of Art, I discovered two beautiful paintings that I never have encountered before. Out of all the new paintings I encountered, my favorite is undoubtedly The Artist’s Garden at Vétheuil by Claude Monet. Even though I love the Monet very dearly, another new painting I came to love is The Old Violin by John Fredrick Peto. While the differences between The Old Violin and The Artist’s Garden at Vétheuil seem immeasurable, the paintings actually contain many similar qualities such as medium, contrast, color, and era.…

Shamengwa and Corwin are the two men who are compared in this paper from the short story “Shamengwa.” They are compared for their differences, which they have a lot of things uncommon with each other. It also relates these two together by showing how they are both intrigued by the music in which the violin produces. They both play with their heart and play to the point where they make others cry. “A Red, Red Rose”, written by Robert Burns, is a romantic lyric poem that describes the affection that the narrator has for his love. In the poem, similes pertaining to his love are used to convey how deeply he feels about it, and to show that he is being sincere in his words. In the last two stanzas, the narrator states that his love will prevail until the end of time, or for as long as he lives. He also states that he’d still return to his love, even if he had to walk ten thousand miles, meaning that he would do anything or go anywhere for her.…

I do not think for one bit that her analogy of “unplugging the violinist” analogy works because everyone has a right to their own body and choices, unless in the case of rape. Her analogy about “unplugging the violinist” is off the chart and is not similar to pregnancy. In some cases, mothers have the choice to have intercourse with another human to make a child, while others do not have the choice because of rape. Mothers choose to have an abortion or to not have an abortion. Others might influence the mother’s decision, but the decision is ultimately the mother’s choice because she is the one that has to go through the process and procedure of getting the baby aborted. Whether or not a child gets conceived because of rape, every single person’s…
