Marc Koska is not a nurse, a doctor, or a medical research. He has absolutely no background in medicine. Koska is just a man who once read an article and got an idea. This severely limits his credibility as a speaker on the subject of syringes. However, Marc is discussing a special syringe, the K1 hypodermic needle, that he personally invented. I’m not a mechanic but if I invented a high efficiency engine, I think I’d be qualified to talk about it. He also founded his own charity, Safepoint, that informs people, particularly in India, of the dangers of reusing hypodermic needles. His anecdotes were interesting and he told them in an engaging way. My only complaint is that he spends too much time telling these stories. Yes, they are a stimulating way to engage the audience but they aren’t delivering any new, fully supported information. The purpose of this speech was to inform but I believe Marc got too caught up in telling the audience a story. Nevertheless, because he uses his stories to illustrate his points and as examples, rather than lead-ins, I must say it was a moderately effective device.
