Andrew Jackson Good Or Bad

Andrew Jackson Andrew Jackson was a popular president for the time he was alive. He had done some very good things but he also had done some very bad things as well. He was just doing what he thought was best for the country. Despite the bad things he had done he was a good president that did what he thought was best. Just a few weeks before Jackson was born his father had died, leaving his mother alone to raise three children. He was born on March 15, 1767 in Waxhaw. Life was difficult for him which eventually formed his quick temper, sensitivity to teasing, and urge to fight anyone who bothered him (Britannica). Andrew was 13 when the Revolutionary War came to America, which Jackson and his brother, Robert joined the effort. In 1781, British soldiers had captured the two but failed at breaking their spirits (Britannica). The British soldiers made them walk 40 miles through South Carolina while wounded. The wounds didn’t get treated, they got little clothes, and almost no food or water. In April 1781, their mother was able to get the boys back, Robert
forces in a five month campaign. Jackson had also led a U.S. force in 1814 to a win in New Orleans which made him a national war hero. In 1817, Jackson made a invasion of Florida and captured two Spanish posts and claimed the surrounding land for the U.S. and sped up its acquisition to the U.S. in 1821 (History.com). Jackson’s popularity had gained him enough supporters to put him in the race for Senate. In the race, he won but later resigned. Jackson's actions in the military had got him very popular, enough to run for Senate and eventually a president. People today still debate whether he was a good president or a bad one. He had done many good things in his life, but he had his share of bad events.
