Andromeda Galaxy Research Paper
The Andromeda Galaxy /ænˈdrɒmɨdə/ is a spiral galaxy approximately 2.5 million light-years (2.4×1019 km) from Earth[4] in the Andromeda constellation. Also known as Messier 31, M31, or NGC 224, it is often referred to as the Great Andromeda Nebula in older texts. The Andromeda Galaxy is the nearest spiral galaxy to our Milky Way galaxy, but not the closest galaxy overall. It gets its name from the area of the sky in which it appears, the constellation of Andromeda, which was named after the mythological princess Andromeda. The Andromeda Galaxy is the largest galaxy of the Local Group, which also contains the Milky Way, the Triangulum Galaxy, and about 30 other smaller galaxies. Although the largest, the Andromeda Galaxy may not be the most

By about how many degrees does the Sun move along the ecliptic each day? The Sun moves 360 degrees in 365.25 days along the ecliptic, so Degrees per day = (360◦ )/365.25 days = 0.986◦ = 1◦ . Round to 1 degree since the question says “about how many...” 14. What are the vernal and autumnal equinoxes? What are the summer and winter solstices? How are these four events related to the ecliptic and the celestial equator? The equinoxes are the points on the celestial sphere where the ecliptic and celestial equator intersect. Is this one galaxy or two? This question came to light in 1950 when astronomer Art Hoag chanced upon this unusual extragalactic object. On the outside is a ring dominated by bright blue stars, while near the center lies a ball of much redder stars that are likely much older. Between the two is a gap that appears almost completely dark. How Hoag's Object formed remains unknown, although similar objects have now been identified and collectively labeled as a form of ring galaxy. Genesis hypotheses include a galaxy collision billions of years ago and the gravitational effect of a central bar that has since vanished. The above photo taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in July 2001 revealed unprecedented details of Hoag's Object. More recent observations…

Some scholars say that the Mexican was invented. The 'Cosmic Race' thesis has much to do with this. 'Mexican' is an expansive term that extends far beyond the easily excepted and common definition that it simply exemplifies a person's nationality. Like most definitions used to identify, trying to define a group by utilizing one trademark is to ignore mass parts of a population. In the proposition that Mexicans were 'invented', the Cosmic Race suggests that this is indeed valid, as Mexicans are of every skin color an racial mixture.…

The Space Race started at the beginning of the 1950s as World War II came to an end. It space travel became important as The United States continued to compete with the Soviet Union. The Space Race officially took flight on October 4, 1957 when a Soviet R-7 was launched into space. This satellite is also known as Sputnik. Sputnik caused much upheaval in the United States as Americans were not pleased by the idea that they had not been the first country to send something into orbit. Sputnik continued to gain importance when it was discovered that the missile was “seemingly capable of delivering a nuclear warhead into U.S. air space--made gathering intelligence about Soviet military activities particularly urgent.” (The Space Race).…

I gladly accept my call to serve in the California Rancho Cucamonga Mission. I have been super excited thinking about where I will go to serve and teach the gospel. Thoughts have been running through my mind about how my friends and I have received our mission calls in the past couple of weeks and the similarity of the sons of Mosiah in the beginning of their missionary years. A good righteous group of friends going to serve the people and bring them unto Christ. Thinking about the idea of serving and wanting to be an excellent missionary like Ammon and the other sons of Mosiah has made my heart leap for joy. The scripture Mosiah 28:3 has been running through my head as well (3) Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared…

The massive construction program came and went. In June of 1943, experimental physics at Los Alamos truly took off (Monk 351). Great things came from the town quickly after the project launched. Los Alamos produced the world’s first atomic bomb (Monk 430). The project was made known to many people, but the majority had no clue the process was occurring. The FBI was not officially informed about it until April of 1943 (Monk 352). Los Alamos had lived up to its expectations.…

During the time right after the cold war, the United States and the Soviet Union became engaged in a “Space Race” to see which country could get a man on the moon first and ultimately claim space for their nation. The Soviet Union led the way by sending the first satellite into space and then the first human. On April 12, 1961, Yuri Gagarin was the first human to go into space and make a complete orbit around the earth. Yuri was a Russian Soviet pilot and cosmonaut. He became an international celebrity over night. He returned to earth as a national hero in his country. His flight is still the shortest flight, 108 minutes from launch to landing. Although Yuri moved up the ranks in the Soviet Air Force, he was banned from the space program.…
