Philadelphia Museum of Art and had the opportunity to view some of Andy Warhol’s work in person. Most of my primary resources had come from the museum. While in Philadelphia, I had time to visit the Parkway Central Library. A librarian there was of great assistance when it came time to find books for my topic. To gather some additional information, I visited The Hoyt Library in Kingston, PA and the Osterhout Free Library in Wilkes Barre, Pa. Much of my time was spent reading the books I had received to collect information for my project. I chose to create an exhibit because it is a visual description of my research and understanding of Warhol’s impact in history. The creation of my exhibit started with the photos of the art I have taken while at the museum. I then typed and printed out summaries to explain the pictures. After laying out the pictures and summaries I glued them onto my presentation board. My topic relates to the National History Day theme in many ways. Andy Warhol’s exploration into pop art changed the way the world defined modern art. His art and rare character made him one of the most famous and significant people in American modern art and culture. Warhol is best known for his silkscreened paintings and experimental films but also for the revolutionary and controversial ways in which he combined the worlds of art and commerce. One of his most famous works of art was his portrait of the Campbell’s soup cans that was shown in ads all around New York City. His unique style really set him apart from all the other artists in his time.
