Equality can be defined as the state of being equal, especially in status rights or opportunity. The first example of equality is when the animals take a vote to see if they should accept the wild creatures as comrades, "the wild creatures, such as rats and rabbits are they our friends or our enemies" ch1 -old major, This shows how Orwell sees that some people are trying to accomplish equality. A second example of equality is how humans put themselves above animals by using them for their labor and resources, He does not give milk, He does not lay eggs, He is too weak to pull the plow, He can not run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is Lord of all the animals” -Old Major ch1, This further illustrates how Orwell sees equality as being practised by humans without knowledge of it. The novella, Animal Farm, satirizes the lifestyle of Stalinist Russia. The author, Eric Blair, known by the pseudonym George Orwell, uses a farm in which every animal and conflict is allegorical to the lifestyle of the Soviet Union. In the story, Orwell portrays how the animals are unaware of their power similar to the working class in Russia. After the rebellion, which represents the Russian Revolution, the animals anticipate an exponentially better life that consists of bigger rations, proper care, and a society with no social classes and equality among all animals, similar to communism. The pigs, who are naturally the leaders, create a list of commandments, but due to the lack of education among the farm animals, the pigs sum up the commandments…

Background information for George Orwell's Animal Farm Animal Farm is a satirical novella (which can also be understood as a modern fable or allegory) by George Orwell, ostensibly about a group of animals who oust the humans from the farm on which they live. They run the farm themselves, only to have it degenerate into a brutal tyranny of its own. The book was written during World War II and published in 1945, although it was not widely successful until the late 1950s. Animal Farm is a satirical allegory of Soviet totalitarianism. Orwell based major events in the book on ones from the Soviet Union during the Stalin era. Orwell, a democratic socialist, and a member of the Independent Labour Party for many years, was a critic of Stalin, and was suspicious of Moscow-directed Stalinism after his experiences in the Spanish Civil War. Synopsis When the farm's prize-winning pig, Old Major, calls a meeting of all the animals of Manor Farm, he tells them that he has had a dream in which mankind is gone and animals are free to live in peace and harmony; his ideals can be compared to Anarchist Communism or even some aspects of Leninism. He compares the humans to parasites, and then proceeds to teach the animals a revolutionary song, "Beasts of England." When Old Major dies a mere three days later, two pigs - Snowball and Napoleon - assume command, and turn his dream into a full-fledged philosophy. The starved animals suddenly revolt one night and drive the farmer, Mr. Jones, his wife, and his pet raven, Moses, from the farm. The farm is then renamed "Animal Farm." The Seven Commandments of the new philosophy of Animalism are written on the wall of a barn for all to read. The seventh and most important is "all animals are equal." All animals work, but the workhorse, Boxer, does more than his fair share and adopts a maxim of his own — "I will work harder." Animal Farm begins well: Snowball teaches the other animals to read and write (though few…

In looking at Orwell's novel, Animal Farm, it is easily recognized that through wit and craft he has outlined, through animals living on a farm, playing respective roles, a critique of Stalin's rebellion towards communism. The end result, after the trial and error sessions of democracy and equal division of labor, is a theme is revealed that prevails in so much of today's society. Animal Farm is the story of a revolution gone sour. Animalism, Communism, and Fascism are all illusions which are used by the pigs as a means of satisfying their greed and lust for power. As each animal, through his or her innate abilities attempts to find their role in the society, the final commandment of the original seven written for the government, is not quite our motto of "liberty and justice for all." More to the point, it is, "All Animals are Equal. But some animals are more equal than others." Of course, in our case, this refers to people, and this is the way that the majority of today's more "productive" societies are able to flourish. It is basically a facade that the rich live by, a way of life where everyone plays a role, and in essence, those in lower classes are the peasants, and it is they who help the rich get richer and the poor sink into inhumane levels of poverty.…

In the novella Animal Farm there were numerous amounts of characters but only a few were the most worthy to lead the Farm. In the story, the pigs were the leaders of the farm which turned out to be a bad decision for the animals. There were other animals on the farm besides Napoleon like Muriel or Snowball who were fit to lead, they just didn’t speak up because they were afraid, or they were chased off of the farm. Of course animals like rats or sheep don’t have a lot of say on the farm either because of their size or stupidity. Animals like the horses or Muriel the goat would have been worthy to lead the farm because they had big parts in the story and they were always talking in front of large groups of animals. The animal who is the most worthy to lead is Snowball because he is great at strategizing for battle, he is inspiring, all of the animals like him, and he is very brave. Does it only pertain to that point of view? Criticizing the film through different approaches, we could pinpoint hundreds of conclusions. But of all critical approach, one dominates the others. In a Marxist point of view George Orwell urges readers to come up in conclusion correlating with what is happening to his society. Travelling back in time, farm animals were led by Old Major to come into consciousness that they were only used by the humans for their own needs. Old Major’s words led the others to strike out a revolution against humans striking them out of the farm. The fog of war did not last for a long span of time, for the animals were victorious taking over the farm from its owner. Everyone lived a prosperous and just way of life but there came a point where one wants to outstand the other. Shifting from a democratic way of living into dictatorship, wherein the others are only to follow rightful commands and laws provided he can benefit unto it.…

Power will lead to corruption. Power is an evil which plagued the modern system. Power has a correlation to corruption. This is a world-wide phenomenon in the modern era, also the past. Power given by a group to an individual will inevitably corrupt him/her. Over centuries, it has become evident that, leadership can result to corruption and disorder. Power can corrupt any living being who takes the role as a leader. Adolf Hitler was corrupted by his thirst for leadership and subjugation, which led him to destroy a race. When power is given to be taken by an individual, corruption is the inevitable conclusion. The leadership role given will be misused and abused, to such an extent that the empowered individual will be reluctant to lose power. Power and corruption are fundamental themes which are profoundly emphasized in George Orwell’s novel, Animal Farm.
