Annemarie Johanen Research Paper
1. Annemarie Johansen
Award- The World Very Best Friend.
Annemarie Johansen showed an unbreakable bond with Ellen Rosen. She risked her life and safety on numerous occasions to protect her friend. They shared happy moments, scared moments and sad moment, but nothing ever conquered their friendship or Annemarie Johansen love. Not to mention the bravery and loyalty that Annemarie exhibited by wearing Ellen neckless The Star of David.

2. Ellen Rosen
Award- The Most Ambitious
The world is Ellen lives in is scary and uncertain, however, she is very studious and serious. She dreams of being an actress and she was excited about her role in the school play. When playing with the paper dolls, she likes to spice things up and make the experience more entertaining.

Mrs. Johansen (Mama)
Award- The Most Resilient
Under the most traumatic situation, she never lost her ability to be resilient. When she interacted with guards, when she left her husband, when she saved her daughters best friend, when she helped a Jewish Family escape knowing it put her and her family in danger, and even when she crawled inch by inch with a broken ankle to get back to her daughters she never lost her strength or faith!

4. Peter Neilsen
Award- The Lionhearted
A man worthy of such an award, who put his life at risk to save many. Peter in my opinion planned the escape of the Rosen family. From the very start when Peter showed up in the middle of the night, I believe he was creating his plan and working with the Resistance. Plus, he came up with a plan to stop the dogs from tracking human scent. His story is truly heartbreaking, but he died a hero

5. Kirsti Johansen
Award- Most Spunk.
Kristi Johansen was a small child, who didn’t hesitate to speak her mind. She has a spark in her wild personality. I chuckle at her very innocent and childish role in this book. Her daydreaming about pink cupcakes, butter and snake shoes.

6. Uncle Henrik
Award- The Gentle

Roseanne Hoefel interpretation of Ellen’s purposeless life is very unique. After taking the time to analyze her perception I agree with her analysis. Instead of focusing on her life itself, she focuses on the reason why it ended up the way it did. As a female, many understand the importance of being independent. After reading this paper, readers now realized that she was never referring to the men in her life ,but the women instead. The whole time she was just traumatized by her fear of being jilted again. Finally readers can understand the internal struggle she was going through and how her final moments seem…

Ellen Rosen demonstrates her courage in a number of instances throughout the novel. The Jews are being hunted down and “relocated” by the Nazis, thus Ellen is required to leave. Instead, Ellen leaves the comfort of her family to reside with Johansens, the only safe alternative for her to take. However, this did not make it any easier for the mere frightened 10 year old. It took great courage to pretend to be Annemarie’s dead sister, Lise, especially so when suspicious Nazi soldiers flug question after question at her regarding her true…

Lorraine Hansberry was born into a wealthy family in the woodlaw neighborhood in the south side of chicago, on May 19th 1930. She was the last of the four children in her family. Her parents Carl and Nannie perry were very politically active and jumped right into opportunities. For example Hansberry's parents crossed the word “Negro” off of her birth certificate (Racial identities of newborns were required than) and wrote “black”.Lorraine was in a family that was very comfortable economically. When she was five, She received a white fur coat for christmas. Her parents told her to wear it to school, but when she did so, the other students beat her up in order to get the coat. She taught me that even though when sometimes everything is going wrong, that you need to keep your head up and keep moving forward. She lost her parents, but stayed strong. She was caught two times by the Nazis, and escaped with her family’s help. She was caught a last time, and this time, she was bound to die. While in the tunnel, she could hear the screams of the Jews getting tortured, but managed to persevere and make it out alive. I believe that is important to not give up, as well as keep moving forward even when times get rough. Nothing lasts forever, and that applies to harsh feelings as well. Everyone should remember that if you put bad things in the past, it’ll be forgotten…
