Our culture can be harmful when we waste time. An example According to the researchers studies of this article of four recent broadcasts, the average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes. In other words the next 174 minutes of the next NFL game you watch will be consumed by commercials, replays, time between plays, cheerleaders, halftime shows, headshots, huddling of teams, and commentators. Americans will sit in front of a TV for typically 4 hours to watch a hitting match, when they could be doing more positive things in their lives. Things like, spending time with family, getting an education, or just bettering your life. This is promoting an unhealthy lifestyle because Americans are not doing the appropriate things to have a successful life. .

We cannot control the outcome of the teams yet we like to spend hundreds of dollars on things associated with that team. People choose to spend money on games, apparel, tickets, etc. The way the economy is going today people shouldn’t be spending tons of money on their sport teams. Instead they should be focusing on their own lives and purchasing expensive products of their sport teams. It is a very harmful in our society because our culture is so obsessed with sports that it makes people go out and buy unnecessary items to support the team that they like.
