According to the Associated Press the University of Texas starting this year will have their own TV station through ESPN. ESPN is giving the University of Texas $3 million dollars over a 20 year period. They’re going to highlight every sport they have and show all the sports that the University of Texas has. The University of Texas is going to make a lot of money from this that the college athletes will not get any of the money.
I chose this article because this is the largest deal that has ever been made for
any college and they are the first university to have their on TV channel. I disagree that the University is getting the money and the players will never see it. There the ones that deserves it, the players.

According to the author college players should but shouldn’t get paid. The reason they should is it would keep the players and coaches to not do improper benefiting. Coaches are important, but the players are important to they’re the ones playing. Nobody goes to college sports to watch the coaches they go to watch the players. College athletes should not get paid because they get free education and other free stuff. I would have to agree but disagree to college players should get paid, so there wouldn’t be any stuff going on that shouldn’t be going on. College athletes yes they get free education but they still should get some of the money that they make by all the media reports, television, tickets, and marketing. There the ones that brings in the money for the coaches and the schools.

According to the article, Rod Gilmore describes some of the reasons why college players should be paid.
This is a multi-billion dollar situation that they are talking about. College players are now like the professional players but they don’t get paid. Both college and professional players are an entertainment industry. The college coaches are the ones getting all of the money that is made from the college players which the college players make the money from the media rights, television, marketing, tickets and luxury boxes. Average college coach’s salary is 1.4 million. College players bring in more money than you could imagine. In the article that I read I would have to agree with the author. College players should be paid, just because some of them get free education don’t mean that they shouldn’t get paid. College players are just like professional players there’s really no difference now. College athletes bring in more money than the professionals.

According to Lisa Horne, college athletes should not be paid to play. Getting their education paid for is enough of money for them to have. The college athletes get free food, free insurance, free publicity, parental mentoring, housing allowance, free travel, and travel cost. Why should they get paid if they get all that free. Only a small percentage of college players make it to the NFL. College players should knock down their expenses and stop buying stuff they don’t need. College athletes shouldn’t be able to go get a tutor to do their work for them.
I would have to disagree with the author.
College athletes should get paid for what they do. College athletes aren’t allowed to have a job while in college. And not all college athletes get free education and those are the ones struggling to make it. College athletes bring in a lot of money so they should get some of the money.

This isn’t the first time that this has come up before, but it seems to have more steam every time it comes up in a conversation. There’s always going to have someone like Cam Newton that receives money improperly. Each college athlete should be paid a stipend of $2000.00 per semester. All the college athletes’ coaches and the schools they go to, but they are the ones that get the money and the athletes don’t get any of the money. They treat these college athletes like servants. They can’t have even a part-time
job.
I would have to agree with the author. College athletes should be paid for their play. Most of the college players don’t get free education or anything and they’re the ones that can’t make it and get in debt. Not all college players make it to the professionals.
