Student athletes in college should not get paid as much as professionals but a smaller portion would be appreciated. The small portion would help the student athletes a lot with tuition if they have to pay for school. If they don’t have to pay for tuition and have full ride scholarships then it would help them pay for classes and books for those classes. One more thing that that small amount of money the student athletes should be paid would help with is not having to work or have another job off campus or away from the college the student athlete is attending. In the end, there are no question that the colleges should pay their…

Some people believe they should not be paid because the already receive scholarships to a university which everything is suppose to be payed for. Top colleges athletes already get plenty of benefits, such as scholarships and free tutoring. (Scholastic News 2). However, this is not necessarily always true. Although some universities offer athletic scholarships, they do not pay for all expenses (Time for Kids 3). They are not necessarily getting paid, yes they are getting tuition money for school, rooms, and books, but they are not receiving money to help them if they have an injury, buy clothes, or food. Other people believe college is a place for learning, not earning. If college athletes get paid, they may not be motivated to focus on their schoolwork (Time for Kids 3). If they are paid, they will be highly motivated because if they fail their schoolwork, they cannot compete in their sport. Many of the reasons to not pay college athletes are…
