Summary: Should College Players Get Paid
Did you know that college sports player’s don't get paid for their withstand style of play. Also, they are playing on TV. What I don't get is what's so different from NFL from college football there both on tv right? College Player are not different from others so why don't they get money. Yes I get their younger than paid sports players, but they don't get paid!!??? These College players are hard workers. They get their hard effort into the hard things they need to get done. I agree with this article because college players seem like they aren't hard working, or good enough. People that aren't getting the money they should be getting, is cruel. Just because they're not in the NFL or the or the USMNT, Or NBA doesn't mean they can't be paid for their withstanding play. Also I agree because there should not be an issue of fairness because people should be treated the same …show more content…
Yes there are reasons why they shouldn't get paid. One reason is the school is already paying for their college. Also because they might not always be doing their best. Lastly Scouters may be looking at how you play and you might be on the Denver Broncos, USA women's Soccer Team or the Denver Nuggets.
The side I agree with is pros, which means yes college athletes should get paid. I think this because they should get the money the need. I say this because college athletes will have to do two things, And it may come to having to leave your sport activity early or quitting the job, And do you really want to do any of those? Also because they maybe have a family to take care of and they can't do it without money right? Maybe even have a family member that's hurt/ dieing/ or even dead. And you have to go to the funeral or go help them and see if they're doing ok.
I liked this debate because it was fun and competitive. In conclusion, this is why I pick the pro

Well except for the fact that players don’t get paid for their labor. If you look at it players should see at least little part of whatever money they generate, for example Texas A&M start quarterback Jonny Manzel is said to be responsible for close to 2.5 million dollars in revenue generated for the school alone. Because of TV, merchandise, tickets sales and him just playing there Texas A&M gets that much extra money. He doesn’t get anything from it, in fact most college athletes are struggling money wise while on campus. Coaches on the other hand, since players can’t get paid the coaches make 6 and sometimes 7 figures. John Kalipary, the head coach at Kentucky University has a 4 million dollar salary. This just isn’t fair to the student athlete and I think they should have some sort of compensation for all that they…

Many argue that these athletes are at school to get an education, but some come from families that could use the extra money for necessities. If these athletes were to get paid to play it could give them an incentive to not sell merchandise and to stay in school and get their degree. Also, Rob Gilmore who is an ESPN college football analyst states that at least 42 of the 119 division 1 football coaches earn more than $1 million per year, but the athletes are the ones out on the field. So if it wasn’t for the performance of the athletes, the coaches would not earn those…

First, if college athletes paid they would want to stay in school all four years. Second, if the athletes are getting paid they need a monthly salary. Third, their salary will pay for things they need, family trips, and insurance. If athletes get paid then they will stay in school longer to get their degree. If the upcoming freshman stay in school basketball will be more exciting. College athletes shouldn't get paid because the NCAA doesn't know where the money is coming from. Those are some of the reason college athletes should get…

In the article that I read I would have to agree with the author. College players should be paid, just because some of them get free education don’t mean that they shouldn’t get paid. College players are just like professional players there’s really no difference now. College athletes bring in more money than the professionals.…

Being an athlete in college means you contribute about 40 hours to your sport. They have a full time college schedule with studying, mandatory classes, and let’s not forget practice. According to an article, “If the average NCAA college football player in division one spends over 40 hours a week on their game, then they are working the same amount as those in full time employment do”(Listland 1). Since 40 hours are dedicated to the game, that takes up a lot of time in schedules. The athletes also have to take mandatory classes and have time to study. So this raises the question, why spend so much time doing a sport and not get paid? According to Enno, “These athletes are practicing on half of the day and going to…

Money gives food, money gives water, money gives life, but money is not given to collegiate football athletes. The National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA, made a billion dollars on the games during March Madness and even after the nets were cut and a champion was crowned not a single player was give any money. Collegiate football players, or any collegiate player for that matter, should be paid for each game based on how hard they work and how dedicated they are to their sport. The athletes are the basis and the main reason the NCAA makes their millions. In addition, it can give these athletes a financial education and better prepare them for their future. Money is the reason people thrive.…

College football, as well as men’s and women’s basketball, are the money makers as far as collegiate athletics is concerned. Most other programs are actually cash strapped. Therefore, the issue becomes should only football and basketball college athletes be paid? (Patterson, 2016). Also, how would you choose who gets paid what and where does the money come from? Who should pay the athletes the colleges or television networks or does it come from an outside source? In my opinion just like I stated before they should be paid but I do think that it might be hard to accomplish this because what about the students before them and the ones before them. What do they have to say if colleges start paying players and left them out of the…

Athletes in college may not make money from the games they play, but they don’t really need it either. They rarely have to pay tuition, they don’t pay for room and board, and they probably don’t pay for their food either. They have no need to make money off of their games because everything they need is already paid for. People say they deserve at least part of what they make, but the school uses it to better their school and facilities, so overall it’s being used for the players anyway.…
