Anomie Case Analysis: Social Disorganization Model
In this scenario, TJ appears to be a decent teenager who gets caught up with the wrong crowd. He seems to not have any role models in his life. He’s growing up in a low income single parent family. He doesn’t hear much, if anything from his father and his mother does the best she can. He is highly influenced by his environment, not because he wants to but because that’s just the type of living condition he resides in.
Anomie Theory is present due to lack of resources, Social Disorganization Theory because the teenager adapts to his environment and most of the individuals he hangs around don’t have jobs and they participate in criminal-like activities and the Marxist Theory just stating he comes from a lower class.
