Ayn Rand believes that human beings should please their own self interests. Looking more into qualifying with her belief ; I came to a conclusion. Human beings should help others and assist on what makes them happy. For example, in Anthem, …show more content…
in chapter one Equality 7-2521 and International 4-8818 discover a tunnel. Equality 7-2521 was so into this tunnel while his friend wasn’t cause he knew the council wouldn’t approve of what they had discovered. Equality 7-2521 had asked International’s word to keep it between them so he agreed. If International 4-8818 had told, Equality wouldn’t had the chance to visit the tunnel every night to write his journal. Even though it wasn’t such a big help it did help Equality 7-2521 to have the freedom to do what interests him. Ayn Rand belief is so hard to live around. There’s people and certain things you have to rely on. For instance, your friends, your parents, etc. Life isn’t that easy to just do everything on your own which some would love to try but don’t succeed. Another example, my father was incarcerated when my siblings and I were toddlers. My grandma Lydia had passed, my papa ray wasn’t around, and my mom and dad split. My dad had no one but us kids. He’d call us to talk and pray with us. He knew he always had us to fall back on. My dad tells us often that if it weren’t for us he doesn’t know how he would have survived in such a horrible place.
Qualifying with this statement, I feel like people should assist their own self-interests.
In the documentary about North Korea, North Koreans have the worst human rights. The North Korean population is strictly managed by the state. North Koreans are told what to do their every move and don’t have the right to do what they want. Disagreeing with how North Korea’s country is managed, there is many reasons why people should please their own interests. Would you like someone telling you your every move? Well this half side of Ayn Rand’s belief can be reasonable. People should have the right to choose what they want their future job to consists of, who they like to marry, and where they like to go. People aren’t happy with the jobs they have today, but by themselves not doing anything about it can’t change the problem. We shouldn’t need someone constantly telling us step-by-step how to get ourselves out of a bad situation etc. We have to feed our own self-cravings by ourselves. Others may have a slight idea of we like by evaluation, but never know our exact appetite. For example a baby, a baby can’t talk; so when they cry parents assume they want a bottle. How must we know that’s the problem? When the baby gets older they will then have the opportunity to get or do whatever that satisfies …show more content…
themselves.
It is a good idea that the government provides programs for the ones in need.
For example welfare. An article states that Welfare is funded by the federal government. There are many types of Welfare that is available for the ones who really need it. First, an application is required to be filled out before joining the program. The federal government will not loan money to families/people if they don’t have low income. Welfare is a good program because it helps so many people who have a job, but not enough money to put food on the table for their kids or clothes on their back. From experience, I witnessed having to use Welfare. My mother is a single mom having to take care of three kids. My mom had my siblings and I at a young age. She had to start from the bottom by getting an easy job, applying for Welfare, and going to school. As much as my mom didn’t like the help of Welfare, we had to be put on it. A goal my mom set for herself was to finish school, get a well-payed job, and not need Welfare. She did it all on her own and we no longer have to be on Welfare. It took alot for my mom to work and go to school to do and pay things on her own. Looking back, it would be a huge struggle for my mom to provide things for my siblings and I if it weren’t for Welfare. Ayn Rand may say it’s my mom’s fault for having kids at a young age and knowing she wouldn’t have enough to provide, but on another note it’s life. I know for a fact my mom never regret having us when she did. Now she
knows she can accomplish anything she puts her mind to.
In conclusion, an agreement and disagree will fit into the belief of Ayn Rand. Agreeing with her can be because people should be able to do things that benefit what they like to do. Disagreeing with her statement can be also because we can't live on our own. We eventually will need the help from others. Programs can also tie in with the help.
