The example that was given was used as a rhetorical device. In a secure way, the author used ethos in this area of his argument. The reason for this is because the author begins to asks the reader rhetorical questions. Questions like,” why can’t people sell organs for the sake of saving one’s life?” were used. The purpose of these questions were used to emplace emotion into an audience that believes in nothing but not legalizing organ sales. This is because the questions were not being backed up data until later on in the argument. This form of tactic is best described as ethos. This ethos method is used to give the reader a taste of the injustice there is in selling and buying organs. After rereading and analyzing the article more than once, I have come to a simple conclusion. Never or less, the author does a pretty well job at attracting and gaining attention from his audience. However, I could not help but notice there were a couple gray areas where the other may have lost some readers due to his irrational opinions. There was a lot of passion used by Gregory in order to describe why it is important to make organ sales legal. As stated before, the passion used by Gregory is best described as an example of the usage of ethos. In the moment of the article where Gregory used a lot of passion to justify his reasonings for the right to sell human organs, he loses himself. In other words, when the author uses ethos, Gregory gets side tracked. Whenever Gregory gets side tracked, that is whenever his loses his audience briefly. Fortunately, the author then continues to write more rational paragraphs after his passionate ethos moments. In the end, the author’s usage of ethos was not necessary. This situation can best compared to the part of the article where the author used an irrelevant quote from a nurse. Like the amount of ethos usage, the quote from the nurse could have been left out. In conclusion there was nothing else that the
