Antioxidant Properties Of R. Discolor Lab Report
The antioxidant property of R. discolor is correlated to the phytochemicals present in the plant. Yet, there is no existing claim that the anthocyanin content of this plant is the sole compound that exhibit the antioxidant property. Plants contain a wide variety of antioxidants, and it is difficult to separately measure the antioxidant capacity of each compound (Medini, Fellah, Ksouri, & Abdelly, 2014). As a result, this study was conducted to evaluate the total antioxidant capacity of the crude leaf extract with special reference to phytochemicals found in the plant. Correspondingly, there is no literature presented about the antiangiogenic potential of R. discolor extracts. Celecoxib (CLX) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used as a positive control for the antiangiogenesis assay
Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) an organosulfur compound with the formula (CH₃)₂SO which is capable of dissolving polar and nonpolar compounds.
DPPH is also known as 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl. It is a stable free radical commonly used to evaluate the ability of compounds to act as free radical scavengers and to measure the antioxidant activity of R. discolor extract.
Ethyl Alcohol is an organic solvent with molecular formula is C2H5OH. It is used for the extraction of active compounds from the soaked R. discolor leaves.
Flavonoids are the most common group of polyphenolic compounds with variable phenolic structures possessing several biological activities.
Folin-ciocalteu Reagent is a compound used in in vitro colorimetric assay used for the estimation of phenolic content of samples.
Free Radicals are atoms or groups of atoms with an unpaired number of electrons. It can be formed when oxygen interacts with certain molecules.
Free Radical Scavenging Activity is the ability of compounds to remove free radicals and reactive oxygen
