The oceans and seas are a major source of food in the shape of fish and shellfish. It is estimated that 90,000,000 tonnes of fish are caught each year, most of them in coastal waters.
WHALING
Whales are not fish, but warm-blooded mammals, and have been hunted from earliest times. They were hunted for their oil, meat, bones and other by-products as marine life is a source of food.
