Apple Blooms Monologue
Sunlight poured down the glade, marked with a peaceful silence. Apple Bloom gave a light groan, then shook her head and rose to her hooves. Her body became filled with a soothing, timberwolf ash-fueled warmth. A dull pain throbbed in her left hind hoof. She sighed, thankful for her earth pony heritage. Other than her hoof, she was otherwise protected from the magic blast. Her relief turned to icy despair when she spotted Zecora nearby, unconscious. What was left of the vulpine statue had already turned into rubble.
Apple Bloom shook her head and trotted closer. Nearby the rubble was an unidentified creature. She wondered why the creature's forehooves were shorter than its hindhooves, but shook her head and continued. It had a tan body and a mane that resembled a hedgehog's quills. She fell over with a startled squeak. Clamping her hooves over her mouth, nothing of immediate consequence happened. Waiting a few tense seconds more, Apple Bloom darted forward and prodded the chains that seemed to be clasped around the creature's claws. Instead of clinking like she expected them to, the chains disintegrated into dust, sifting onto the ground as Apple Bloom stared on with wide eyes.

He blinked and shielded his eyes, raising his left arm. The squeaky and western-sounding voice washed away the pain in his head, but at the same time piqued his interest. Close to his vision was a dark blue, onion-sized orb with tiny white dots spread all around its surface, giving the appearance of solidified night sky. It glowed with a calm cyan aura, prompting the boy to reach out. To his surprise, the orb felt icy cold and part of its smooth surface seemed to be missing a diamond-shaped

I saw my son John sitting in the old rocking chair. He always sat in that chair just like me when he was thinking hard about something. He didn't pay much attention to the world around him. During this time of introspection, she enjoys the various forms of life that surround her, in the trees and on the ground around her feet. I still remember that dreadful night as if it were yesterday, the day my pride, my joy, my everything, my marigolds were destroyed. That morning when I woke up I just knew it was going to be a bad day. I woke up and started doing the thing I've always done, I was taking care of my beautiful marigolds. I was out there for about two hours when a rock came flying at one of my marigolds and beheaded it, “Who out there?” I searched through the bushes trying to find the children who are always trying to get at me. “You better git” I yelled. I looked for a couple more seconds before I cautiously went back to my marigolds, but before I even knew it another rock beheaded another one of my marigolds. Those kids didn't understand my reasoning for planting…

I grew up with a Game Boy Color in my hands. No matter where I went, I always had the “Grape Purple” device loaded with any Pokemon game. My favorite was a copy of the Crystal version I bought with my allowance from a friend’s garage sale. He had failed to mention that the game didn’t save, but I fell in love with the whole experience of choosing a new starter that I just played it over and over again unbothered. It was the first time I had felt like I’d been transported to another world, and encountered the transcendental idea of fantasy.…

Abstract In the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, France, and Japan, the propensity to pay dividends is higher among larger, more profitable firms, and those for which retained earnings comprise a large fraction of total equity. Although there are hints of reductions in the propensity to pay dividends in most of the sample countries over the 1994 to 2002 period, they are driven by a failure of newly listed firms to initiate dividends when expected to do so. Dividend abandonment and the failure to initiate by existing nonpayers are economically unimportant except in Japan. Moreover, in each country, aggregate dividends have not declined and are concentrated among the largest, most profitable firms. Finally, outside of the U.S. there is little evidence of a systematic positive relation between relative prices of dividend paying and non-paying firms and the propensity to pay dividends. Overall, these findings cast doubt on signaling, clientele, and catering explanations for dividends, but support agency cost-based lifecycle theories.…
