Aquarius Case Analysis
Case for Analysis: Aquarius Advertising Agency
1) Analyze Aquarius in terms of the five contextual variables: * Goals: Aquarius has realized a huge problem in regards to the rapid turnover of their major accounts. An agency reorganization would be a realistic goal in changing their competitive techniques. This reorganization might be able to set them apart from the other agencies by reducing their response time and increasing the communication between the different departments to boost efficiency. * Culture: In my opinion I believe that Aquarius has a very low and undefined organizational culture. It seems like the employees are all looking out for themselves and trying to get ahead of everyone else. These values although unwritten provide the glue to having everyone on the same page and are absolutely essential in providing clients with top of the line work. * Size: Since Aquarius is a mid-sized firm with various specialists on the professional staff of the operations and marketing divisions I would say they have anywhere from 1000-1500 employees. With this many employees it is critical to have effective communication between the different departments. This would in turn increase flexibility in this unpredictable environment. * Environment: Changes in the environment is the main reason why the agency is considering the need for reorganization. It is typical for advertising agencies to gain/lose clients quickly, this is why is it so essential to have everyone in the organization effectively communicating with each other in order to satisfy their clients and reduce turnover. * Technology: Aquarius has a number of different specialists on their team that work together in assisting their clients, but there is always room for improvement in regards to better communication. It would seem to me that Aquarius would have a number of different programs and internet sites to assist them achieving their services.
2) A new organizational structure

Organizational change means many things. It can mean introducing a new enterprise resource planning system to coordinate and standardize internal processes, shutting down a factory, selling off a noncore business, or laying off employees. It could also mean entering a global market, integrating acquired companies, and outsourcing nonstrategic activities (Spector, 2010).…

People are focused on innovating and brainstorming towards ideas that the management can implement and improve their processes. The company is people oriented which in turn creates a high commitment level from the employees. The organization has leaders who are efficient and ensure smooth running of the company. The company is sensitive towards the clients and customers and goes an extra mile to deliver better than the expectations. This is the reason for them to be able to retain customers and get new businesses. Another fact that I am aware of is that the organization has not till date fired any employee unless in extreme ethical sensitive issues. An example of people being valued and everyone considered equal is that when I joined the company as a fresher some of my friends who ad joined along with me sent a mail to the CEO regarding a certain issue and got a reply from him with the action that would be taken.…

In 200 to 300 words, each characteristic adds value to the organization in a number of ways. First, it helps everyone understand what the manager’s role is. Then, it helps create a positive work environment. It also establishes organization excellence. There are so many more ways that the above characteristics add value to an organization. I will explain to you more about why I picked those three. In a human service organization, there has to be good leadership skills throughout in times of hardship. This helps people stay together and focused on the job at hand instead of losing its focus. I worked for an organization that never had lots of quality leaders. They all talked about how bad people were way to much instead of trying to help them become a good worker at the job at hand. Adaptability helps everyone get along with each other and it helps people stop being in others definitions of personal problems. What I mean by this is if the manager talks to everyone and gets to know at least a little bit about who all the employees are, then the clients would get the help that they need in order to have happy…
