In this report I will be describing how the political, legal and social factors are impacting upon the business activities of two varying organisations and their customers. I will make an analysis on how the political, legal and social factors have impacted on the two contrasting businesses and I will evaluate how future changes in economic, political, legal and social factors may impact on the strategy of a specified organisation and the contingency plans the businesses might have to operate to avoid downfall. My two businesses I will be analysing the factors on are Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) and Tesco plc.
Queen Elizabeth
The Queen Elizabeth hospital Birmingham is a hospital, which was founded in June 2010, it is part of the NHS care system, this makes it a public company part of the public sector (government owned) alongside teachers, the emergency services, council workers (bin men etc) and soldiers. The QE hospital’s main stakeholders are the National Health Service (NHS), the 6,900 employees and the patents/public. Legal factors like employment laws and consumer protection, social factors like religion and attitudes to work, as well as political factors such as political stability and tax all affect aspects of the business and affect decisions.
Tesco
Tesco plc is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer; it was founded in 1919 and is a public limited company. It is not owned by the government but instead it is a company whose shares are freely sold and traded to the public. Tesco plc’s main stakeholders are the owners, employees and the customers. Legal factors like employment laws and consumer protection, social factors like religion and attitudes to work, as well as political factors such as political stability and tax all affect the business activities of Tesco and what decisions are made by the business.
