Arc Flash Protection Case Study
Abstract— Arc flash (AF) protection is very important for all power and process industries to maintain the safety of equipment and personnel at the workplace. This describes causes and characteristics of AF faults and gives an overview of existing AF protection methods. This proposes design and development of a microcontroller based AF protection system which utilizes physical characteristics, viz. unique signature of the light, current and pressurized sound signals during AF within tap changer/switchgear compartments. The detection of physical parameters by means of a modern and newly developed sensor technology provides fast, secure, and cost-effective protection against AF, even for low/load-current arcing events. In most of the cases failures of transformer is due to the failure of OLTC. Hence the OLTC becomes the very important part of the transformer. Its failure can result in unavailability of the power transformer or total loss of the power transformer. The sudden failures of power transformer not only include the replacement cost but, safety, environmental issues and, in case a spare transformer is not directly available additional cost for not delivered power and penalty cost should also be considered. So it is become necessary to get the information about the condition of the OLTC. Conventionally maintenance of any equipment is predefined with fixed time interval by its manufacturer or supplier. Now a Modern tendency is to perform condition based rather than time based maintenance. It can reduce the maintenance cost, extend the service life of equipment and prevent possible catastrophic failure. In condition based maintenance one need to know the condition of the tap changer to determine when and what maintenance is

    To make a CDMA cell phone work with a different carrier the PRL file must be replaced. Generally there are 3 steps to this process. 1. Read or Know SPC: This is the service provider lock code put on the phone. Verizon SPC is almost always 000000. (Not locked) Sometimes Cricket are 333333. But if neither of these SPC’s are correct you will need to use a program to read the SPC. I have included SPC readers in the folder for each different brand. If you cannot figure out how to read SPC from any phone please search Google for “Read MODEL SPC” “Unlock MODEL SPC” or “MODEL SPC memory” This should give you information on how to read the SPC for the phone you need to reprogram. 2. Unlock Phone: When it comes to CDMA phones unlocking means changing 6 digit SPC to 000000. So, once you know your phones SPC you need to read it with software that usually prompts for the SPC. If you are reprogramming a Samsung, Sanyo, Kyocera, BlackBerry, LG, or Audiovox phone you can usually unlock the phone with QPST. Once you enter the SPC and read the phone click on Main tab or Security tab and look for the SPC in QPST. Change it to 6 0’s and write to phone. For Motorola phones just read seem 055 with included SPC Reader. Change to 6 0’s and write seem to phone. Then it will be unlocked and accept over the air programming from the new service provider. 3. Write SPC to phone: You can get PRL files for most carriers here: http://www.corolada.com/prl If you are reprogramming a Samsung, Sanyo, Kyocera, BlackBerry, LG, or Audiovox phone you can usually write the PRL with QPST. Click on the ROAM tab. Open the PRL file that you downloaded. Then Write to phone. Once the PRL is written to the phone you should be able to dial 611 or *228 on the phone and connect to the new service providers customer service department.     Abstract—The analysis, design, and implementation of a microcontroller-based electronic ballast to supply metal halide (MH) lamps are presented. The proposed topology is based on the integration of the buck and flyback converters, the former providing power factor correction and the latter controlling lamp power. The lamp is supplied by a low-frequency square-waveform current, which is a convenient way to avoid acoustic resonances in high-intensity discharge lamps. Both converters operate in discontinuous conduction mode, thus allowing the use of only one highfrequency switch and simplifying the control. The electronic ballast is digitally controlled by using a low-cost microcontroller PIC16F684. The microcontroller performs all the necessary tasks during starting, warming-up, and steady state, including closed-loop control of lamp current and protections. The closed-loop control takes into account the lamp dynamical impedance. Experimental results for a 35-W MH lamp are presented, and the obtained overall efficiency is 90%. In dynamic state estimation based protection, all existing measurements in the protection zone are utilized.
