The staff had a lot of motivation problems, starting by the fact that it was a bureaucratic type of company. There was no opportunity for employees to express their ideas and no incentive to advance in their careers.
Managers at the top level would decide what to do, not taking in account the input from costumers and employees, employees under their layer would accept to whatever they would say since they were scared to loose their jobs.

The very first thing would be to let the employees heard, their input is crucial for the turn around of the company. In addition create a plan for decision taking, in which from a range of ideas one is chosen by a group of managers who are open minded in the sense of new ideas for the company. What is the financial status of ASDA? How should the company be re-structured? What changes would you make?
ASDA financial status is in a very bad situation, if changes on the managerial structure are not made the company will end up on bankruptcy.
The company should be restructured in such way that all the employees can be heard, a communication channel is a must. The input of not only employees but also from costumers has to be implemented. At the end of the day if there is not a relationship in between the company and the costumers, the company will end up in a bad situation, as it is on now. The company should invest in its employees, so that they can have motivation and growth opportunity within the company.

In the future the company should be concerned on the hiring of people that can make a difference and support the goals of the company. In addition to that the company has to make sure that every stakeholder is looked after. Communication channels are a must as well.
(b) What specific organizational integration-differentiation concerns should they recognize?
I believe it would be the staffing, the new hires have the potential of helping the company growth, they are one of the keys to success. Staffing also should recognize the staff that has made the difference, and while in the process of the new hires they should select the most brilliant minds and give opportunity to the young.
(c) What employee and customer perceptions should they be alert to in their business planning?
