Arctic Ocean Research Paper
Have you ever want to know what is under the ocean? Well in the Arctic region it contains some of the world's largest reserves iron, copper, lead, and uranium. It is more beneficial for the United States to explore oceans because oceans can give us lots of resources such as copper and uranium, it has lots of land for us to colonize under the surface. Also it can inspire young people to get careers in important things like science and engineering.

This paragraph will talk about how the ocean can help us survive, for example by giving us resources. There are so many resources in the ocean that can help us. For example according to Trevor Day the author of a book called “The Arctic Ocean” “The Arctic region also contains some of the world's largest reserves of iron, copper, lead and the radioactive metal uranium.” This tells you that some of the world's most importance and most valuable resources are in the ocean, meaning that we should explore the oceans so we can get important resources. There is also resources that can save lives. For example according to the NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) “A Caribbean sponge has been discovered to generate compounds used in AZT which is used to fight the AIDS virus.” This tells you that the ocean has life

But this argument is very weak because also to according to Patrick Kiger “Despite all those risks, however deep-sea explorer maintain an impressive safety record.”

In conclusion we should focus on ocean exploration instead of space exploration because we can get many good and important resources like uranium, lead and iron. Also this can inspire young people to get jobs in things like engineer and scientist, which can benefit everyone in the future and there still so much to explore in the biggest part of our

The ocean needs to be explored because ‘’17.8 billion dollars is going toward space exploration’’ and only 3 people have gone down to the deepest point in the ocean. To begin with, space doesn't need to be explored any more than it already has. According to the text, ‘’passage one states that the ocean takes up about 71 percent of Earth’s space, yet a whopping 95 percent of that ocean is completely unexplored. As…

Since the beginning of time there have always been those that have opposed exploration of uncharted lands. This statement holds truth also for the NASA program since the beginning when President John F. Kennedy's vision was to ‘land a man on the moon by the end of the decade.' Instead of all the opposition of NASA and questions such as, "Why should we go to space?" I believe people should ask themselves, "Why shouldn't we go to space?" Christopher Columbus didn't have to sail over the Atlantic Ocean and discover America, he could have stayed in Europe but then we may not be living in the United States of America. Christopher Columbus and many others human didn't stop but continued to explore because they are humans. We as humans have an instinctive nature to explore and discover. This is seen especially in children. When toddlers see something such as a shiny object, they investigate it by picking it up, feeling it and maybe tasting it. As we grow, it is only necessary that we as humans continue their search to discover and explore. If the excitement and thrill of exploration isn't enough for you, there are also many benefits that NASA and space exploration contribute.…

In “Opinion: The Oceans Need the Spotlight Now” written by Politha Kohona, he argues the world needs to unite and take care of the ocean before it is too late. He explains this through exploring the treatment of oceans in the past and currently. Kohona believes the oceans are at risk of becoming yet another battlefield for resources. This attempt to procure resources will lead to rivalry amongst the nations of the world and put the oceans and the fragile ecosystems within at risk. The risks will come from pollution, overexploitation, and acidification. The effects of global warming will also have a large impact on the oceans and the socio-economics of the world.…

It is believed that 4.6 billion years ago our Earth was formed. And over 200 million years ago the great body of water on this planet, what we call the ocean, was able to be formed (History of the Ocean). For 200 million years our ocean has flourished with the life of all matters of creatures from some of the first ever cells to take life, to pre-historic dinosaurs, to the fish, plants, and mammals we see today. However, today we face a new point in the history of our ocean. Today we face the potential destruction of our beloved body of water.…

Seafood affects the Earth’s spheres both negatively and positively. If there is an oil spill that kills thousands of types of seafood humans will not have that same amount of food source to rely on anymore. If there is not the right amount of seafood then the food chain will fall apart too creating even less food for us and the animals that would feed on it.…

The ocean has captivated mankind since the beginning of time. The Challenger Expedition, the first modern oceanography expedition, only began in 1872(“History of Oceanography”). Why was it that we ignored ocean research for so long? We have only “dipped our toes in the water” (Cousteau 194) and many people are afraid of taking a dive. However, ocean exploration is most certainly worth the risks, as the benefits of ocean research far outweigh the risks.…

It is unarguable that there are problems here on Earth. From terrorism to health care and the economy, America and the rest of the world have problems that need to be solved. While there are problems here on Earth, the United States should continue to fund space exploration because it contributes to national security, stimulates the economy and leads to further technological advancements. America cannot afford to stop exploring space in an effort to solve other problems. Instead the U.S. needs to take a look at how space exploration is already working to solve those other problems.…

A lot of people are asking the same question about space exploration these days. Why spend the money on space, when we have so many problems needing money here on Earth? The answer is resources and technology. Space exploration has provided so many new technologies and resources to us on Earth over the years. Without space we would definitely not be as far along in technology as we are today. Space Exploration for a lot of people, provides a different perspective, or view of life. It gives people a real sense of place in our wonderful and large galaxy. Space exploration also provides an understanding of our world and can even help protect the world. NASA has a group known as the Earth Science division that helps us understand how complex and interesting our world is. NASA also studies other planets like Venus and Mars which help us…

I think space exploration is good thing for this world because we might find pterodactyl next big thing in space. I'm just saying that maybe we find the cure for cancer in a faraway planet or find a way to go into the past like time travel space is too big to look at thru a microscope but if we spend money we could be saving lives by the thousands instead of 7.6 million dying each year. I think president Kennedy was right for having such a liking to the space exploration and for thinking about the well being of his people. Surely the opening vistas of space promise high costs and hardships, as well as high reward, I think Kennedy was thinking that when he said this line that there won't always be an easy way to the new frontier but we will get there and he knows it will cost a lot…

Countries began making more and more claims on the Arctic over time. Denmark, Canada, and Russia have especially become involved. On November 16, 2004, Denmark ratified UNCLOS. Greenland has land in the Arctic Ocean and is part of Denmark, which has led Denmark to make a lot of claims. Since 2004, Denmark has claimed over five areas of the Arctic. On December 15, 2014 it claimed 900,000 square miles there. Denmark has also become involved in claims for Hans Island and the Lomonosov Ridge. If Denmark can prove that the Lomonosov Ridge is connected to Greenland, then about 347,492 square miles in the Arctic would be added to its territory. Canada also ratified UNCLOS on November 7, 2003. Canada has also made several claims in the Arctic and has…

The NOAA also known as National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has been taking data of the ocean temperature for years to analyze climate change, though in a recent leak from a former NOAA scientist, the data taken from the ocean were not from buoys, which was how they were taking data originally but they weren't getting the results they wanted. Since they saw that the water was getting colder, which contradicted climate change, they decided to switch halfway through the experiment to taking data from cargo boats, which had a warmer effect on the readers and caused the data to be inaccurate. This is biased towards that fact that they want there to be climate change, as they have predicted, but altered the data to do this.…
