1.How has the catch of lobsters changed over the past 15 years in the state of Maine?…
I examine how rising or falling tide can affect the water level of Corte Madera Salt Marsh in this report. The data is from Wednesday (June 19th) and Thursday (June 20th). My hypothesis is that tide and water level have positive relationship. From the result, I learn that the water level and tide have positive relationship. However, when tide changes its direction, the water level is likely to stay or little change.…
The oil spill was a terrible desaster that occurs when petroleum was accidentally released into the water and the environment. Oil spills normally take place on land and in the ocean. When the oil spills that occurs on land it can be cleaned up quickly if it is caught in a timely manner , the oil spill caused major damage to the environment and can also affect the animals which would cause the animals to get very sick and be very hazardous even dead due to the effects of the oil spill. When oil is leaked released into the water it floats on top of the surface and will after an period of time the oil does spread over the surface and it is then that the water becomes thin. When this happensThe oil spills takes along time to clean up and that’s because the large quanity of petroleum oil that was spilled in the ocean. The problem is that the oil is very thick and that means it will stick to the birds and mammals. All of the animals that come in contact with the the oil they are contaminated having breathing problem and can even get phemonia and cause death to occur. And also make the fish unable to reproduce. and it also affects the oyster beds and wild life.the resources become very limited and costly and an extremely amount of money was lost, due to the fact that the government waited so long to respond. The cause of oil spills is when something or someone accidently spill oil in the ocean. Oysters are one of the main seafoods ordered all over the world. Now everybody see what large impact the oil spill had on the environment and the economy along with the oyster beds. With the oil spill being so horrible and devastating with the fisherman not being able to work the restaurants were not able to get the oysters because of them being contaminated. This devastation cause famailys not to be able to provide for there familys properly.…

Explain the relationship between continental drift and the formation of the Earth’s Oceans? The relationship is unhealthy the continents are unable to commit to staying in one place so they are continuously moving so in response to this the oceans always changing their shape to get the continents to notice her.…
The Continental drift was the process in which the Earth’s land surfaces ( at the time known as the pangea) started slowly breaking apart and drifting away. This has continued until the continents were in the places we know them to be today. This drift has caused the formation of separate oceans instead of one huge one. This drift still continues today.…
d. The water itself doesn’t travel the whole distance, but the waveform does. As the wave travels, the water passes the energy along by moving in a circle called circular orbital motion.…
The oceans and seas are a major source of food in the shape of fish and shellfish. It is estimated that 90,000,000 tonnes of fish are caught each year, most of them in coastal waters.…
One major problem we are facing as a country is the rapid decline in several different species of fish in the ocean. Some specialist have actually looked into this to determine the cause for the decline in fish in the ocean. One of the major causes is that some species of fish are being fished more than others. It is even stated that more fish than the species are being able to actually reproduce. This alone could eventually lead some of the species into extinction. This is definitely something that can be controlled by humans. Typically, fishing period could stop any and all declines however that is not going to happen. Fishing is harder on the ocean environment then toxic pollution or degraded water quality. As human the only thing we can do if we aren’t going to stop fishing is stop targeting the same fish species to prevent extinction. We need to want to keep the environments balanced and as the primary cause of the decline fish stock in the ocean.…
When waste is spilled into the ocean it spreads throughout the water harming marine life and their habitat. It can affect their hearing, changes in their behavior and can even cause physical injuring or death. Much of the marine life is threatened by extinction. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico has threatens our planet with environmental damage. Oil spills like this fill the air with toxins that raise concern for many health problems. When oil is recovered from the ocean floor chemicals and toxins come to the surface, which are the released into the air. This is a growing concern and should not be dismissed.…
Many people do not realize the impact of the oil spills that occur in the ocean. It is like putting water into a heated oil frying substance. It is quite catastrophic. With all the oil spills that have already occurred it is important to help clean ,and prevent oil spills from reoccuring. There is indeed a lot of reasons as to why we should clean and help prevent oil spills from happening but here are the three main reasons. First reason being oil spills cause immense harm to the marine habitats that intern affect the entire ecosystem disrupting its cycle. A second major reason being is all the things that the oil contains and where they go. The third reason we found that plays a major role involving…
Through commercial fishing many of the ocean and seas marine life is caught and killed unnecessarily through netting and a lot of the marine life is not consumed, but discarded, in turn depriving many other of earth’s creatures their natural food source. As an alternative to declining marine life humans have begun raising their own fish. Although fish farming can be beneficial, it can also be harmful to the environment by spreading disease and other pollutants into other waterways affecting other habitats and wildlife (Sielen). In many other ways we are affecting the decline of our oceans.…
Others argue that fishing industries should continue as they do now. Fishing industries provide multiple job opportunities, the fishing industries have a large variety of jobs from fishing to tinning. New skills are earned from working at a fishing industry, also providing experiences to write in their resume (Connect Us Fund 1). This provides more sources of income, providing more tax money to the government, then helping the economy (Connect Us Fund 1). Industrial fishing companies have provided wider access to cheap seafood, then increasing the amount of people that want to include fish in their diets (Slow Food 43). Since seafood serves as a primary source of protein, it is commonly healthier and has more nutritional benefits than other…
This change in the carbon cycle to change the chemistry of the oceans, although carbon dioxide is chemically neutral gas in the atmosphere, is active in the oceans. When carbon dioxide dissolves in seawater, it produces a weak acid known as carbonic acid is an unstable acid leads to increased hydrogen ions. These ions to increase Ocean acidity, as measured by lack of concentration of hydrogen ions also reduce saturation of carbon ions, which are needed to form the shells and…
Billions of years ago planet Earth did not look like it does today, it was covered in lava and volcanoes. There was no possible way that life could exist on the planet. However, eventually the planet started cooling down; huge amounts of steam rose causing clouds. Then the clouds rained. One thousand years of continuous raining caused oceans which made earth like it is today. Planet Earth, also known as the blue planet, has oceans covering three quarters of the Earth’s surface.…
