Are Zoo's cruel?

All around the world animals are taken captive to be held in Zoo’s in foreign countries. It is claimed by some that animals need special protection, a stable environment where everything is provided for them. But is this beneficial for the animals, and what affects is it having on the ecosystem? The fact of the matter is that many different species are struggling, and by keeping animals in zoo’s, rather than releasing them or building conservatories is cruel and one of the biggest injustices performed by man.
Animals need to be able to survive and thrive in their own natural environment, without mankind’s intervention. It’s been recorded and noted that over the last few centuries there has been a serious drop in the numbers of certain species of animals, and in some cases entire ecosystems have faulted and species have gone extinct. Some people believe this reason for Zoo’s, where we can “Rebuild” their natural environment so the species can live on. However, this has dimmed the creature’s lives, and is truly just a selfish gesture performed by man to be able to use them as entertainment.
Animals should not be taken out of the wild to be our entertainment. Slavery in the United States was abolished in 1865, after the end of the civil war. Now let me ask you; is slavery defined as “Captivity” for men and men only? No. Slavery is for an organism which is being held against its will be a captor, and therefore animals in Zoo’s are slaves. We cannot stand for this injustice; a lion that shall not hunt, a monkey that will not climb. Providing entertainment out of another organisms suffering is a cruel and terrible act. Animals can safely reproduce and thrive in a sanctuary, without mankind’s intervention.
