Some of least noticed, yet deadliest threats talked about these days is anonymous posting and users on the internet. Supporters claim that using a false identity is used through those seeking help online without the fear of getting targeted by peers and harshly cyber bullied, shielding themselves from close-minded societies and teaching them not to have to be ashamed of themselves. Critics argue that fake identities are only another path towards child abductions and sex trafficking. Asserting this is nothing but an open outlet for cyber bullying and sex offenders and the anonymity of the world wide web needs to be demolished.

Social media is a gold spot for bullies, the account users are just sitting ducks waiting for a bully to take action. Matter of fact, “21% of teenagers said the main reason they checked social media so often was to make sure nobody was saying bad things about them.” (Paul Malcore) Social medias are only “fueling the fire” (Kent Lewis) of being exposed to identity fraud and bullying. That being said social networking sites have the greatest potential for abuse. Something as simple as giving out your full name could be used to steal or misappropriate your identity. “These are some of the following elements: full name (particularly your middle name), date of birth, home town, relationship status, school location, pet names, and your interests and hobbies.” (Kent Lewis) 43% percent of teens have been victims of cyberbullying in the last year. 20% of teens had a cyberbully pretend to be someone else to trick them online, getting them to reveal personal information.
