I feel like the author could have expanded more on Medea’s feeling and how she felt after each situation that occurred because of her revenge.
2) I also feel that the sons should have been more involved in the play that way in the end when Medea kills them the audience would have had an attachment to the characters therefore the ending would be even more traumatic than it already
is.
3) I loved how Euripides incorporates love, hatred, cruelty, and revenge in the same play as it creates suspense to the story.
4) I also enjoyed how Euripides incorporated Greek Mythology in Medea’s character. The unrealistic powers that Mede has and uses added a fun twist to thee story. She wasn’t just slaying people with knives; she was using “magic”.
Jason was wrong in the way he went about moving on from Medea. He should have talked to her and should have explained what he wanted before he made any moves with Glauce. However, the way Medea handled the situation was absolutely uncalled for. There are simpler ways to handle someone cheating on you or not wanting to be with you anymore but killing your own kids is too far. Obviously, her anger got the better side of her. She could have ran off with her kids after she had killed Glauce. Killing Glauce is more reasonable than killing the kids. Instead, she chooses the option that is not only going to hurt Jason but also her as well. She even struggles with the decision. In time, she will start to miss them, but will ever go away is that fact that Jason did hurt her and the past is something she can’t change so therefore, she did not solve anything hypothetically. From this play, I took out a few lessons. One, is to never trust anyone, not even the person you are married too. Medea and Jason are the epitome of that saying. Jason cheats on her so Medea kills their kids. Another lessons I took out if this play is quite the opposite of what Medea does. Medea needed to have time to think about her decisions. She didn’t think, she used her only day left in Corinth to plan out her revenge. Even when she was revenging she still didn’t stop and think about it until it came down to her children’s death. Overall, I did like this play and how it was written. It was easier to interpret than some other plays and I think it would be a fun one to act out as long as I wasn’t playing Medea’s role.
