or stories through their own opinions or beliefs. The media should only present the facts of a topic or discussion. However, this is difficult because people who work for the media filter the information according to their own beliefs. Media companies are filled with people who all think like one another which causes the media news to be filtered through those individuals who all have the same view point. This then makes the media unreliable because it does not show all sides of a situation or state the full truth. A journalist named John Stossel who worked for the mainstream media for over twenty years was fired for coming out as a Libertarian. This proves how the media leans left(in a Democratic perspective) and does not want people who have different views and beliefs. The mainstream media is bias all around and viewers should to be more skeptical about what is said.
John Stossel and Bernard Goldberg, American journalist, show how there is bias in the media by personal experiences.
John Stossel, the stellar employee with all good reviews and everyone loves him, is one of the first ones to step back and tell society that the media is bias because he got fired from ABC News for stating his political agenda. Stossel worked for a TV show called, 2020, many people loved it and the views would go up right after the show. Stossel did not work for a while, until Fox news(a major conservative group) hired him as a Libertarian. This was the first time any network said that Libertarian groups need a voice, Stossel still work for Fox News today. He has something that is called Stossel in the Classroom, does videos for schools. Stossel was called an “equal opportunity basher”, meaning that he disagrees with one or the other parties because he is not one of them. Another journalist, Bernard Goldberg, was fired from CBS News, after his big seller book “BIAS” was published. His book exposes what he personally experienced with bias in the media and talks about liberal bias. Goldberg mentions how he lost many close friends once he published his book, yet his friends always told him they would be friends no matter what. He had a personal phone call with his friend and told him about the article he wrote. Goldberg’s friend no longer talked to him after he told him what he wrote about. This proves that the media is bias, therefore, always look at different
networks such as Fox News, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC to get different viewpoints.
