Sexting has lead to many sensation seeking and negative urgency among males and females.(Moreilli & Biarch & Biaocco, 2016). Many insecurities cause behavioural issues among individuals. Sending nude photographs pressures one to have the "perfect body" in order to impress society. This leaves many questioning the way they look, causing them to pay a great deal of attention to their bodies. Since sexting is so common it does pressure many individuals to sext in order to get positive attention which can be used to fill insecurities. The number of young adults who participate in sexting has grown dramatically since technology has advanced over the past decade. Sexting has a very strong relationship with depression in many young adults, the symptoms tend to occur when the romantic relationship between two individuals is neglected. It is shown that sexting is a way of engaging in sexual acts and is used as a way for an individual to feel accepted and loved by a romantic partner (Wersskrich, 2009). Depression is often associated with stressful life events and can be developed over time when an individual feels frustrated sexually or lonely (Shaw & Gant, 2004).
