Nuclear weapons were introduced to the Asian continent in 1945, by the United States. The United States succeeded in nuclear weapon development all thanks to the Manhattan Project team. Thus the United States developing its nuclear weaponry, the fears of the Soviet Union amplified and many other powers joined the nuclear arms race. President Truman at the time, approved the August 6, 1945 bombing of Hiroshima. Since the bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima took place, more Asian nations have gone on to gain nuclear weapons. There are six countries in Asia that have nuclear weapons, this is including Russia. The city was absolutely demolished by the “Little Boy” bomb. With all the radiation blast, between 90,000 and 140,000 lives were lost. …show more content…
The effects of such led many humans to have doubts with the use of these weapons. In the end, if atomic weapons had not been used, it would have been seen as corrupt. There are many arguments regarding the use of these weapons.
Should the United States have dropped the atomic bombs? Many have different views towards this debate, but to me, I think it was a good idea for the U.S. dropping the bombs they did, it served a good purpose. The Japanese bombed us at Pearl Harbor, and that could not be left alone. I feel that the bombs saved an unquestionably amount of human lives. Even if it wasn’t sounding like it did, the numbers showed it.
I feel the use of atomic weapons are needed, but they are dangerous when they enter into the wrong hands. I have asked several people what they feel about atomic weapons in the U.S. Asking my mother, she said: “I feel atomic weapons are good. They made Japan surrender, and helped end WWII.”. I also asked my roommate, and her response was: “Atomic weapons serve a good purpose, especially when it comes to bad situations regarding our country. They keep us safe, and show power.”. As I asked several friends and family, I got pretty much the same

On August 6th, 1945, the United States dropped the first ever Atomic weapon on Hiroshima, Japan. 140,000 people lost their lives, most of which were civilians. President Truman was in charge of this major decision, and he made the correct choice. The alternative solutions were much too costly for the United States, both in expenses and American casualties. Another reason Truman’s decision is justified was due to the declination of the fair ultimatum recieved by Japan. Also it was important to the well being of the world to keep the Soviets out of Japan. Dropping the Atomic Bomb was the most reliable and definite way to end the war.…

It was August 6, 1945 when the first ever atomic bomb dropped on the city of Hiroshima in Japan. Three days later another was dropped on the city of Nagasaki, Japan and this let to the surrender of Japan in World War II. The surrender would have not occurred so soon if it had not been for President Harry Truman’s decision to use the first ever nuclear attack on another nation. His decision changed history and the way the world worked. This meant that nuclear power was out there at the disposal of the United States for them to use whenever they saw fit. The decision Truman had to make was extremely difficult seeing as he was faced with a huge ethical dilemma whether to kill entire cities to save millions of American lives. The issue was not only was it ethically right but did he have enough justification to prove to the world that dropping the atomic bomb was the only way to end the war.…

I don't think that the US should have bombed Japan. It was entirely unnecessary and the US had plenty of opportunities to do other things. America could have used a technical demonstration to show how powerful the bombs were on a nearby, but uninhabited, island. This would have been a effective intimidation act while not adding to WWII's already enormous death count. Admittedly this alone would not have ensured Japan's surrender, but Japan was planning on surrendering in the fall off 1945. The only thing that was keeping them from surrendering sooner was their unwillingness to accept completely unconditional surrender. The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki may have ended World War II, but was it worth the lives…

The atomic bomb was necessary in order to assure the war would end as soon as possible. On August 6th the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, on august 9th a second one was dropped on Nagasaki, and on August 10th Japan declared its intention to surrender. This is clear proof that atomic bomb was an effective way to end the war. Even if it did kill many people it might actually have killed less people then if we had kept the war going for much longer.…

"The use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender..." Admiral William D. Leahy (Alperovitz,The Decision To Use The Atomic Bomb, date of publication unknown) There have been many issues involved with the use of the atomic bomb because of the high cost of lives, and that it was considered to be immoral and unethical. However it has also been considered necessary for the war to have ended, avoiding further casualties on both sides.…

We have come a long way since we decided to drop atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in World War II. It is amazing that we continue debating on this subject today. The US should not have decided to drop these atomic bombs. This decision was totally unnecessary. Thousands of people died who did not need to die, and many more became sick from radiation poisoning. The bombs wiped two entire cities off the map. How can anyone even argue for this in the first place? One argument that was used to support dropping the bomb was that the Japanese forfeited their rights when they aggressively attacked Pearl Harbor and committed war crimes against prisoners and the Chinese. This argument does not work for a few reasons. First, there are two types of justice in war. There is the justice for going to war and the justice for how you fight in war. The two are separate. This argument assumes that because the US had a reason to go to war, how they fought the war was automatically justified. This is false. It is possible to fight a just war unjustly. Its between ends and means. Reasonable ends do not justify unreasonable means. Also, violations of the rules of war do not justify similar actions in response. Just because the Japanese fought unfair does not mean that we were allowed too. Saying, “Well, you did it, too!” cannot be the basis for War II was bad, we should not have just forfeited our standards and done bad things as well. Our leaders were operating under the “War is hell” doctrine, which means anything that brings the end of war more quickly is good. This is not a way to actually fight wars. If war is hell, then why do we even have rules of war? Hiding behind “War is hell” is a cop out used to try to escape any responsibility for fighting properly. As long as war is here, we should have rules for it to try to lower its impact. Such rules cause mass killings, for example, the dropping of the…

The US propelled atomic weapons in the mornings of August sixth and August ninth of 1945 to Japan, producing a huge number of honest deads, without tallying the back ones caused by the radiation that was in the place. Atomic weapons are probably the most huge executing gadgets weapons that have ever existed. This weapon can burn people that are in the epicenter of the bomb and the spots encompassing it in not more than seconds. This weapon ought to be dispensed with from earth since it is a peril to the planet and people, a reality that is much more terrible than creating a few many years of "worldwide peace". Likewise, it is an unfeeling approach to murder a person, that is against to any sort of good esteem.…

The pictures in front of you are the gruesome results of the utter destruction after the atomic bombs were dropped on both Japanese cities. Almost half a million victims; equivalent to 13,000 tons of TNT; a 1.6 mile radius of destruction/bomb (within that radius, people were disintegrated, leaving shadows where they stood). Housewives and children were incinerated instantly, their internal organs boiled and their bones charred into brittle charcoal. 65% of the casualties were nine years of age and younger. Even days after the explosion their health began to fail. They lost appetite. Their hair fell out. Bluish spots appeared on their bodies. And then bleeding began from the ears, nose and mouth. All of this could have been avoided and we still could have won the war. Japan’s Navy & Air Force were almost obliterated, their economy was collapsing, and their people were starving. Germany was also collapsing as well, and the Japanese had no chance in the Pacific due to the blockades. There were on the brink of surrendering. Therefore, the atomic bombings on Japan were not only military unnecessary, they were in the form of “state terrorism,” in sense that they targeted innocents to achieve a political goal, they were a crime to humanity slaughtering thousands of innocent women, children, and the elderly, they were fundamentally immoral by violating international law by indiscriminately attacking and destroying civilians. These weapons of mass destruction cannot discriminate between men, women and children; between the healthy and the infirm; the aged and the newly born. Our lesson after 1945 led to the ongoing pursuit of more and better nuclear weapons. It led to a mad nuclear arms race based upon mutually assured destruction with the Soviet Union. It led to some 2,000 nuclear weapons tests in the world that have caused untold radiation damage to down winders, mostly indigenous peoples, around the world. Some fraction of the more than 30,000 nuclear…
