The reason I write this article is to bring attention to all the unjust treatments migrants go through. As many know life in latin america is very different from life here. The system has been corrupted, we see articles that say they wish to help, but the truth behind this is that they simply do not do anything. Police forces which are meant to be trusted and to help instead terrorize and threaten. Many officers are bribed and pretend they know nothing of the sort. Yearly 1.3 million women are raped, 54 percent of the cases are not reported due to fear. Many of these crimes also happen in Mexico, when the women are on there journey north to the united states. They are right to fear, many of the abusers are in the police force, while others are gang members that threaten to kill you if you were to inform police forces. Not only do the police forces place unthinkable acts upon women but they also beat and rob migrants. While the government looks the other way to avoid the problem at hand these acts continue to be performed by the authorities and still they go unsolved for and uncared for. Migrants are abused on a daily basis and as much as we choose to ignore this, the facts are the problem at hand is getting worse with the number of corrupt authorities and the longer we choose to wait until we help with only bring worse effects on this country.
