Get with the Program, America! Have you ever walked into the store and asked yourself, why am I buying a gallon of milk instead of two liters of milk? Better yet, have you ever asked yourself why you’re buying two liters of pop instead of a gallon of 1[-; pop? As you can see the US standard units measuring system and the metric system disagree with one another in this instance. This isn’t the only situation either. They clash with one another in many other situations world wide. That is why America should join the rest of the world and switch to using the metric system.

They are taught both systems at a young age and expected to know the differences and when to use which system. It is confuses the kids and makes them at a disadvantage to the rest of the world. It has always been intended to be easy to learn and use, with its round numbers and round units. When we use another more difficult system it only confuses and clouds our ability to use one of the easiest systems ever.
Many would argue that not just children would be confused when we switch to the metric system. To that I say that that confusion would be for only a brief moment in time. We would begin to teach only the metric systems in schools and the rising generation would grow up using this system. The only people who would be confused are those who have also been taught the US standard units system. All that these people would have to do is refresh themselves of a method that they already know and have been taught in school. It all in all would not be that confusing.
Others might also argue that it would be too expensive to change an entire system within an entire country. The fact that it would be expensive is true. It would cost millions if not billions of dollars to convert an entire country to the metric system. This is quite a bit of money and I know that but I think it would be worth it for the future of our country. It would not be too expensive. I don’t think that anyone could put a price limit on how much money to use on this endeavor. This change alone has the potential to create peace with other countries showing them that we are not that different than they are. That would create a much better world
