ABSTRACT
Aripiprazole is considered as a third generation antipsychotic and known for its unique partial agonist activity at dopamine D2 and serotonin 5-HT1Areceptors. Partial antagonist action at serotonin 5-HT2Areceptors . The common neurological side effects are extra pyramidal symptoms, headache, insomnia and drowsiness. Seizures had been reported in 2 cases of adults with normal intelligence and 1 in healthy 3 year old child after accidental consumption of 30 mg of aripiprazole(4) . Here we report a 21 year old female with intellectual disability developed seizure with low lose of aripiprazole. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of aripiprazole induced seizures in mental retardation.
