With new technology and the integration of societal influences, changes have been made in the United States (U.S) Army. In the U.S. Army Operating Concept (AOC), Win in a Complex World, dated 30 October 2014, states how leaders at all levels need to prepare and anticipate changing conditions and ensure that their forces are manned, trained, and equipped to overmatch enemies. To make sure new leaders in the Army can prepare and anticipate changes, they must be given the tools to make them successful to attain the capability to adapt. Army must devote the majority resources, it is best to look at all three. The definition of cognitive dominance is known as “… a position of intellectual advantage over a situation or adversary that fosters proactive agility over reactive adaptation, facilitating the ability to anticipate change before it occurs (Brown, 2014, 14).” There is no definition for realistic training or intellectual agility, because these human dimensions are to be executed or driven by the cognition or ability of our leaders and Soldiers comprehension. Realistic training is executed using thought out plans would benefit our Soldiers to execute successfully in defensive and offensive maneuvers in the battlefield. Kevin Dixon, described the historical background of institutional instruction of captains, and concluded that the impact of these innovations on the cognitive demands and recommended for TRADOC to incorporate technological advancements in cognitive instruction. The assessment found in MAJ Dixon’s study of the self-development pillar of leader development clearly defined the objective of synthesis for officer development focused on cognitive demands (Dixon, 2000, 20). By the Army developing the AOC for our future leaders, it is imminent that cognitive dominance will change the human dimension for today’s Army leaders. By review of all three human dimensions described in The Human Dimension White Paper, we will see how cognitive dominance influences both realistic training and institutional agility.
