This artwork is comprised of three major elements in the central lobby area of the building Palmer: One a water/word wall located on both the first and second levels. To the left of the artwork there is a massive wall of all windows that bring in an enormous amount of the light. There also are skylights above the piece which brings in light from above. According to Lisa Sharp an Academic Advisor in the building who was around when the artwork was being built says, “There is special sky lights that we can turn on when celebrities come into the building. For example, when the Palmer’s come in or the President of Iowa State” (Sharp, Lisa). The lighting in this piece is precisely uniform throughout the whole piece and what comes apparent is the words engraved into the stone and how much shadow appears in the word thus telling the observer how deeply engraved the words are, which tells a person what the words represent and who would use that type of language (Fact Sheet), for the reason of the shadowing and how that plays in the light and how dark the shadow is representing how deeply engraved it is moves into the texture of the
