In artifact number four my group was presented an image of “asemic art”. The image shows several variations of strokes. The image seems to be composed of circular or rounded strokes. There weren’t any strokes that seemed particularly sharp. In this image; there seems to be an element of creativity, which is a characteristic of language. I consider artifact four as a language because it’s creative, complex and redundant. However, there are some that would disagree because the writing doesn’t seem intentional.
In artifact number four there’s are variation of strokes that could be used to create an infinite combination of text. The artifact has some strokes that are horizontal, some that are vertical, and some that are circular.
The different strokes can mean something, and the combination of strokes could be a more complex meaning. These variations in strokes also gives this artifact it’s complexity and creativity. There’s also redundancy in artifact four because around the middle of the image, it shows us a few single strokes that seems similar to each other. And on the left side near the bottom you can see semi-ovals which are also similar to each other.
Despite what others say; artifact four does seems to have some intentionality. Because when you look at the image, there seems to be a certain pattern. On the left side of the artifact there seems to be a similarity in the circular strokes. In the next section there seems to be similar horizontal strokes. This shows that the text is intentional. Which is why I believe artifact number four is can be consider a language because the text is creative, complex, and redundant.
