Chapter 1
Q: In your own words, define “godly character” and explain why it is important for a Christian educator to display such.
A: Godly character is not only believing in God, it is living by the word of God. There is no such thing as being perfect, therefore part of being “godly” is to accept and criticism that may come your way. Being kind and giving are some characteristics of a godly person. Christian educators are not only expected to display such conduct, they should also hold themselves responsible to do so. It shouldn’t be something you have to try to do, to live by the word of Christ is what a godly person should choose to do. I know that it makes me sleep better at night to do all that I can to represent God and the way he wants us to live.

I try to have the same foundation for my personal life and professional life, but sometimes there are personal issues that do interfere with my professional life. Being a mother is a good example. Everyone has their own beliefs and ways of parenting and when I become a teacher I have to respect that and do what I am there to do, teach the children and be ready for different personalities and behaviors. Therefore, I do not believe that having different foundations at home and at work is a good situation in some cases, but in others it may be. Your personal life problems should never interfere with work; as a professional you are expected to leave any of those problems at the door. But in other cases, some of your personal experience may come in handy in the classroom at times, as well.
Q: Respond to question 4 on pg. 32.
A: A Christian teacher is a Christian whether they are teaching in a public
