Gandhi’s assassination was unjust because he was a nonviolent leader. He didn’t fight back when he was attacked and believed that without violence you would be able to make your point across. He influenced the world with his non violent acts. Gandhi lived an austere life. He called for a Satyagraha of peaceful protests and strikes. He did nonviolent acts like stop paying taxes and paying British goods. He also no longer pledges allegiance to the British government. He returned medals he earned in military service. He fought for the liberation of India because it was under British rule. He got the leadership of the Indian National Congress. He wanted students to stop attending government schools and for soldiers to leave their posts. After years of protests government imprisoned hundreds of Indians and Gandhi for 6 years. There was discrimination and racial segregation that Gandhi was fighting for. Gandhi started the “Quit India” campaign. That called for the British withdrawal from the country.
The reason Gandhi was assassinated because a fanatic named Nathuram Godse were upset at Gandhi's tolerance of Muslims.
There was violence between Hindus and Muslims way before the independence of India. Many people were killed. Gandhi wanted peace and wanted to end the killing. Some Hindus saw Gandhi as a traitor for expressing sympathy towards Muslims. Godse killed Gandhi when he approached him and shot him in the chest 3 times. Godse was a Hindu extremist. Godse was executed by hanging.
