When it come to economics the South built its economy through the use of farming and slaves. They produced products by cultivating crops and farming the land. The more slaves a landowner acquired the bigger the plantation and wealthier they became. The south had what we call a Farmer's Economy. In the North factories were the main means of producing textiles and all that they needed to survive. Since they were very industrial the need for slaves was not necessary in order to make production happen.
