Leading is one of the basic function within the management process "Leading is the use of influence to motivate employees to achieve organizational goals”. Managers must be able to make employees want to participate in achieving an organization's goals. Three components make up the leading function:
Motivating employees
Influencing employees
Forming effective groups.
* Effective leading:
Effective leading requires the manager to motivate subordinates, communicate effectively, and effectively use power. If managers are effective leaders, their subordinates will be enthusiastic about exerting effort toward the attainment of organizational objectives. * A manager needs to do more than just plan, organize, and staff her team to achieve a goal. He must motivate, communicate, guide, and encourage the employees. And this requires the manager to coach, assist the employees.
Ways of motivating employees:
1. Recognition/Attention. When your employees accomplish something they have achieved something. Your recognition is appreciation for that achievement .this will encourage the employee to do the best in his job.
2.One-on-One Coaching. Coaching is employee development. Your only cost is time. Time means you care. And remember your people don't care how much you know... until they know how much you care. make sure to do this coaching in "public." Whenever you recognize and encourage people in "public," it acts as a natural stimulant for others who are close enough to see or hear what's taking place.
3. Training. Different types of training sessions will continually enhance the performance of your people and the productivity of your business.
4. Career Path. Your employees need to know what is potentially ahead for them, what opportunities there are for growth. This issue is a sometimes forgotten ingredient as to the importance it plays in the overall motivation of people. If you do this you are sending a very positive message
