Euthanasia is becoming more and more popular throughout the United States, the World for that matter. Euthanasia is assisted suicide, and many have different beliefs as to whether or not it is religiously acceptable, socially acceptable, and morale acceptable. This article tells the reader that euthanasia can be the better route when suffering with a terminal illness. Even though his wife suffered with an terminal illness the decision was never considered until pain and suffering was brought up. The main idea of this essay is “When it was clear that Mathilde’s life was coming to its end, we went at once to see our doctor and reminded him of his earlier promise to administer euthanasia.”
This article was a real life event; Mathilde and her husband were located in the Netherlands. She was diagnosed with a rare disease. After seven years the treatment no longer worked. She was informed that she would be suffering from a variety of illnesses. The decision about euthanasia was made after the seven years. Even though she was facing a terminal illness she still kept on with her everyday life. She should be an example to everybody. Just because times are tough it doesn’t mean you can give up.
