People with Lower SES live in underdeveloped neighborhoods, as they sometimes cannot afford the housing costs. Housing conditions are not up to standard as in some apartment there is paint chipping all over the place, roaches and the windows were terrible (kozyrskyj). Dust from outside can easily come inside the house, seeping through the walls. There are air contamination and allergens such as tobacco smoke in the air, which triggers asthma (trupin). The allergens are the paint chipping leading to bad overall health and contribute asthma in young children (Neighmond). As the apartments are in bad conditions there is also exposure to mold. In unsanitary living environments, there is cockroach dropping and that is also a trigger for asthma. People of lower socioeconomic status cannot afford to live in a nice neighborhood without any triggers. People in this status cannot afford those medications to treat the symptoms of asthma, as many of them do not have health insurance (almqvist). Someone with high socioeconomic status is able to live in an allergen free environment, which significantly reduced episodes of asthma attack. People in the higher socioeconomic status have easier access to health insurance and medications to help with asthma such as inhalers. Adults in the high SES have the means to stay home to rest and not go to work. The people of the low SES do no have these privileges of job flexibility, as they have to work to make ends
